Yet another results show has come around, and Ryan starts things off by asking, "Who will graduate from the Idol school of rock, and who will just get schooled?" You know, Ryan, I'm available if your writers are on strike. Call me.
Anyway, sounds like it was a dramatic week on American Idol - a large column collapsed and in a separate incident, a staffer was injured on a stair mishap. Whew. But the show must go on, and we'll find out tonight whether Allison, Danny, Adam or Kris will be going home. The other three get to go home, too, but for a big hometown parade with cheerleaders and town leaders gushing praise on them.

Ryan tells us that more than 64 million votes were registered last night, which is the highest tally outside of a finale. And, say what? Paula will be taking the stage? And what is up with her boobs lately? They seem to be hanging out all over the place. I think they actually have their own zip code now.
Anyhoo ... the Ford commercial is interesting, with the four Idols jumping out of newspapers and billboards like they're in a Charles Schwab commercial or something.
Then Slash (lose the hat, Slash; we're over it) takes the stage with his band and the Idols, all doing a rockin' version (is there any other kind?) of Alice Cooper's "School's Out For Summer." After the song, Ryan talks to Slash, who says it's nice to see rock being done by people who can sing. Ok, whatever.
Ryan then talks to the Idols, and Kris calls the whole experience surreal, while Simon counters with, "Kris, we don't want humble anymore." Really, Simon? I like humble. You should try it sometime. Adam says he had a blast with his song last night, and he loved his outfit. Danny says that his own aunt muted the TV during his song. Apparently, his screamer note is being made into a ring-tone.
Paula did indeed take the stage (with a bunch of hot guy dancers), singing "I'm Just Here For the Music." I'm sure it's all lip-synched, because I can't imagine Paula singing while being thrown around the stage by her dancers. Anyway, fun performance and she looks great.
Then "No Doubt" performs "Just a Girl," with Gwen Stefani channeling Cyndi Lauper and The Pretenders. Gwen basically says she's tired of staying home and having babies, and wants to go on tour again.
Finally, the reason we all tuned in -- the results -- gets underway. Ryan immediately sends humble Kris back to safety, and he's completely overwhelmed as he staggers back to the chairs.
Then, enough of the results! Time for another performance -- this time with Chris Daughtry singing "No Surprise." We also get to see a little video synopsis of Chris getting booted off Idol three years ago, leaving Katharine McPhee (who?) as the winner. Then Kris Allen hauls out a big plaque showing that Daughtry's debut album sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. Woohoo, sometimes Idol losers do better than the winners!
Ok, back to the reason we're all here -- the results. Ryan sends Adam back to the chairs, and I bet Adam is secretly hoping he doesn't win. I'm sure he'll have a much better career as a loser. Then we learn that Danny is safe, and Allison will be going home. She sings "Cry Baby" again, and the judges and audience pretty much burst into tears at Allison's awesomeness.
Next week, the Top 3 each sing two songs -- a judges choice and their own personal pick.
So what do you guys think? Did the right person go home?

YOu got it wrong! Chris Daughtry came in fourth a few years ago, Elliot Yamin came in third, Katherine McPhee came in second and then that Taylor Hicks guy was the winner.
That said, I think Danny Gooky should have gone home.

Gokey should DEFINITELY have gone home. That performance of "Cry Baby" was the best one of the four the night before and she proved how good she was with her swan song. Gokey was so bad that even his own aunt muted him, and yet those IDIOTS kept voting for him. Looks like another Taylor Hicks to me...except less talented and a lot less cool.
Not only was Paula's performance Lip-Synched, it was also performed at a different time than the show. It was TERRIBLE. And keep in mind that my first ever concert was Paula Abdul with Color Me Badd at the Oakland Coliseum in 1991.
I already forgot the Daughty song when I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth that night...VERY forgettable.
Slash didn't sound that great, and I am glad that when I saw Guns N Roses that they had Buckethead playing lead guitar instead of Slash.
No Doubt (who cancelled on the concert I was supposed to see them in...opening for Bush in 1995) sounded decent, but Gwen Stefani sounded terrible. She was out of breath, basically talking the whole song and she was trying too hard to jump around stage and wasn't really singing. Oh yeah, and it was also filmed at a different time than the rest of the results show, the judges weren't there.
ANYONE STILL VOTING FOR DANNY IS AN IDIOT. Even he thought he was terrible after seeing his terrible performance.

Thanks, Xina! I forgot that's the year Taylor Hicks won. The clip showed Daughtry and McPhee on stage, and I was thinking she had won that year (which shows how much of an impact that Idol season had on me...not...)

allison should be runner up to adam. she is the second best singer in my opinion. simon treated her wrong/ america made a mistake. not enough votes does not mean she isnot better , maybe less popular with fans.

I don't think any of them left are as marketable as Allison, I've no interest any more this year without her. I think she will be the only one you hear about in 5 years. I hope Daughtry consoled her, it was fitting that he was the guest when I feel the same thing happened to him.

I am very sad to see Allison go home, but still quite happy that Kris is around. If there is any justice in the world Danny will somehow go home next week, but it's been a Danny/Adam finale since episode one (which is SO annoying) especially since Danny has IMO just gotten worse throughout the season while Kris has just gotten better and better. Oh well.

I was anticipating Danny going home or Kris. I know Kris is doing well but the song choice was poor and his performance for me lacked. Perhaps, I am tired of Beatle songs.
I have felt since the beginning that Allison was very good but too young. There was an indefinable something that came through where I had a sense of her "youngness". Certainly, not her voice, style or talent - it seems she needs to grow into it.
Sadly, I fell asleep after Kris was safe and then came the commercial break so when I woke this morning was when I learned who left last night.
I don't understand why Danny is still in the competition - seems like this could be another quirky season such as the one that Taylor Hicks became the American Idol. And seeing Taylor H's recent performance left me shaking my head and wondering where it all went so very wrong...

Bottom line: Gokey should have gone home.
More snark, for good measure:
* The "School's Out" group sing sucked.
* Paula's lip-synch sucked.
* No Doubt didn't suck, but they didn't sound as good as they used to.
* The Daughtry video clip was pretty good, but his new song was BORING.
* Allison rocked it. It's a shame she was sent home before Danny and Kris.
P.S. Thanks for spelling Katharine's name right!

I hated to see Allison go home last night, but it wasnt a huge surprise. She has been hanging around the bottom three, undeservedly, for a while. She just doesnt get the support from the voters for some reason. Based purely on performance, Danny should have went home, but his huge fan base carried him through, even after an awful perfomance of Dream On. Nothing against Danny though. At this point it is hard to say goodbye to any of these contestants.
I kind of enjoyed Paulas performance. It was nice to see her do something besides babble incoherently, flirt with Simon and throw her panties at Adam for a change.
Daughtry sounded good and I enjoyed his new song. I have never been a big fan of No Doubt though. In my opinion, Gwen Steffani is a hugely overrated skank. That some view her as a fashion icon and sex symbol boggles my mind. To me, she is unattractive, shapeless and sings just barely better than Britney Spears.
I am really going to miss Allison. I think she is better than more than half of the people who have won this competition in the past and I hope she goes on to have a huge carrer.

Well, guess I won't be watching Idol the rest of this season. Allison was my choice. As far as I was concerned, her voice was the most powerful! Yes, Adam is good, but am tired of hearing his screaming high pitched voice. There was just something about Allison that made you look foward to seeing her perform. She ALWAYS put her heart and soul into her singing. I'm beginning to think that all the teenage girls are in control of the voting and just go with who's the cutest. I just don't get it! That's not what Idol is about.

I was not that thrilled with Allison's performance on Rock Night (except for her duet with Adam, which totally rocked), but I have to say she totally sang the hell out of "Cry Baby" on elimination night. Something tells me Allison will have a future, but it depends on how much she wants it. In the end, I think Allison was just having fun and never really had that fire to win this thing -- certainly not like Adam, who you can easily see is in it to win it.
That being sad, she should not have been the one to go home. Just going on performance, it should have been either Danny or Kris, but at this point it comes down to fan base and all three of the remaining contestants have strong fan bases. I would go so far as to say Danny has the strongest base of fans and could take home the prize. Unfortunately, if he does I think he'll end up being another Taylor Hicks. While Hicks is a great singer, he never really had it in himself to be star.
When I look at the final three and think about who could have the career of Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, Adam is really the only one I think could approach that -- and I'm no Adam fan. Both Danny (the choir boy) and Kris (the soft-spoken pretty boy) have mediocre talent at best.

It doesn't really matter who goes home at this point.
Anyone but Adam is a fair choice.
I don't know what competition some of the people were watching Tuesday, but not one performer, except Adam, had a performance worthy of a winner on that stage.
The difference in energy, singing talent, song choice, emotion and just the raw quality of the performance were so plainly visible there is absolutely no way anyone could objectively choose anyone but Adam. Allison sang ok, but the performance was utterly lackluster compared to Janis Joplin. Kris sucked so bad it was painful to watch, and Danny's end note was pure torture.
I don't really even like Adam all that much, because he's way too glam rock, but there's no arguing he's heads and shoulders above anyone else in the competition.

I thought Paula's performance was actually really good, but why did she choose to do it on rocker night. It didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the acts at all. She should have saved it for the finale.

I am really so severely disappointed that Allison was voted off "AI" last night. In my opinion, she was the best singer in the contest. I know many people will say that Adam is untouchable, and I agree that he is quite talented, but Allison is raw talent. She came from high school, not from the professional world like Adam. Although she seemed awkward when being interviewed and maybe did not exude the "personality" that Simon was looking for, it is important to realize that Allison is not a polished professional. She is 17 and, before this competition, had likely never performed in front of any seriously large audience nor been interviewed on camera for millions to see. I thought her personality always came out where it counted: in her performances. When that girl sang you FELT it, you know. I think Simon's constant negative comments about her "lack of personality" really hurt her and cost her votes. I was so looking forward to seeing her duke it out with Adam and give him a run for his money in the finals. The truth is, in my opinion, that neither Kris nor Danny have the chops to go toe to toe with Adam. They are both lovely gentlemen with pleasant voices but come on...the gap is gigantic. At this point, I think Adam has it in the bag. Where's the excitement in that? At least Allison would have made it interesting. America definitely screwed this one up.

I was impressed by Paula's performance. I'm sure it was lip-synched, but the girl can dance, and the song is actually catchy. Slash was awesome. And I love the hat. It's his signature. Slash without his hat is like Keith Richards without a cigarette dangling from his lips.
I was sorry to see Alison go. She's far more talented than Gokey. I've been over that guy for several weeks now. But Adam's has this competition in the bag anyway, so now it's just a matter of who will be joining him in the finals.
Having said all of that... I don't know who wrote this TVSquad Review, but can't they find somebody less sarcastic, less snarky who seems to actually enjoy watching the show to write the reviews? Every little nuance elicitcs a snitty dig (Ryan's writers, Simon's advice, Paula's Breasts, Slash's hat and comments that it's nice to hear rock being done by people who can sing). Drop the negativity and sarcasm, and just write a well-crafted, interesting review of the show. Nobody's interested in your opinion. :)
Thanks for listening.
