Here's a question for the ages: Who would win in a real fight: Peter or Nathan Petrelli? Could the power-nabbing Peter kick Nathan's high-flying ass in a no-holds-barred brawl? Or would the older, slimier Nathan have the advantage? It's a tough call. I'd have to vote for WHO THE FRAK CARES?!
But Peter Petrelli himself, Milo Ventimiglia, hopes that people care about such hypothetical battles. In his latest attempt to corner the geek market, the Heroes star is co-producing Ultradome, a web series "where passionate fanboys settle hypothetical disputes in a special effects showdown."
Expect to see such fanboys, including Ventimiglia, duke it out on the web series in scripted – yep, scripted – fights to settle stuff like: Which franchise is cooler, Star Wars or The Lord of the Rings, or is Han Solo tougher than Indiana Jones?
Here's the cool thing about the show: Every episode will feature two nerds in combat armed with all the weapons, skills and pop culture "touchstones" of their favorite hero or franchise. That means the dude fighting for Star Wars' honor will probably be wielding a light saber while the LOTR fan will ... have big, furry feet?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ultradome is similar to Spike's Deadliest Warrior, which features hypothetical showdowns between historical fighters. But Ultradome is a comedy. And it stars cosplay nerds instead of buffed-up actors playing pirates or knights.
I'm skeptical about this idea. I'd probably be looking forward to it if, say, Seth Green were producing instead of Milo. At least I know it would be funny, or at least maybe feature cameos by people like Robot Chicken regulars Katee Sackhoff and Sarah Michelle Gellar (hmm, now there's a fight I'd like to see).
Anyone looking forward to Ultradome? Personally, I'd like to see someone with Ventimiglia's star power try to revive Beat the Geeks. Now that was a fun show about nerd showdowns.

It wouldn't matter because they would cut away and slam the door shut so we could only peek through the crack like Claire and never really see the action.
(still bitter)

Let's hope Kevin Smith gets a residual for his idea.

This isn't a bad premise, but they have to do it just right. It can't in any way take itself seriously. Geeks have, and love, these kind of arguments all day and all night. But the one catch is, there's almost no winning. Geeks will back their horse in the race almost to their dying breath.
So make the show a *parody* of the "Who would win if X fought Y?" that everybody can laugh at and it might do pretty well.
The live action aspect might be a problem though. It will probably seem too silly to non geeks, 'Oh gawd, who wants to see two nerds playing dress up?', and geeks will probably spend most of the time nitpicking the cosplayers and their costumes to death.
It needs to be animated. Maybe shoot for a "Space Ghost Coast to Coast" tone.

I have to admit I've never really understood the whole "who would win in a fight between character x and character y" thing. They are fictional so no matter what you're never going to be able to answer that 100%. Either side could come up with a list if reasons why their favorite could win but it's still not possible to know. And when it's on a TV show where the writers have decided to write two characters fighting it out it's still whoever the writers have decide is going to win - not the characters - and therefor not a real answer.

I think the money would be better spent on acting lessons for Mr. Ventimiglia, especially considering the fact he only has two expressions in his arsenal. (Actually he only has one; I just decided to be kind.)
