This leak appears to be unauthorized, but still pretty solid. It looks like the television remake of Ron Howard's 1989 film Parenthood has been picked up by NBC for next season. Peter Krause (Six Feet Under, Dirty Sexy Money), Maura Tierney (NewsRadio, ER) and Craig T. Nelson (Coach) are on board to star, and that's a pretty solid foundation right there. The original Parenthood movie starred everybody who was anybody in the late '80s, including Keanu Reeves, Jason Robards, Jr. and Mary Steenbergen and Steve Martin. It was like Crash with an extended family, following multiple story lines that all ultimately connected.
A television series would allow a premise like that to breathe and get into some really good family dramatics, only hopefully sprinkled with humor. It's such a great idea, they already did it once.
Unfortunately, that show was terrible and was yanked from the air right away. Hopefully, this remake will be much better put together and worthy of time on NBC's schedule, because if it sucks I can just hear the fans of [insert show that will be canceled to make room for it] crying foul!

What about The Philanthropist? Announced as a mid-season but never aired. James Purefoy was pulled away from The Saint remake project to star.

This almost makes me rethink my vow to protest NBC after word has leaked that they are axing Life. Of course, I'll give in and watch this for it only to be canceled because it isn't mindless and unoriginal--or so Leno can get an extra hour every weeknight in the 2010-2011 season.
