Prison Break: S.O.B.

Michael (Wentworth Miller, L) and Christina (Kathleen Quinlan, R) have an uneasy reunion.

(S04E19) "Maybe I can meet my grandson one day." - Cristina

With only three original hours left in Prison Break's run (not counting the two hour telepic that may or may not air), it's about time we got some solid answers. Despite her plea saying otherwise, I feel pretty confident now in believing that Cristina ain't one of the good guys. While General Krantz isn't much better, he's starting to look like a saint compared to Michael and Lincoln's mother.

Speaking of Krantz, has anyone else noticed that Leon Russom is in that Cisco commercial that's been airing during Prison Break? It's a lot harder to take the guy seriously when one minute you see him holding a gun to someone's head and the next minute he's wearing rollerskates and singing "I Will Survive." Regardless, Cristina is squashing him in the "I'm worse than you are" category.

So what's her plan? Well it seems like she still wants to sell Scylla, but Banerjee was never meant to be the buyer. It was all a scam to get him to that global conference on energy independence so she could assassinate him. It makes sense - get rid of one of the foremost experts on energy and, hopefully, other world powers will get antsy for some research of their own, thus driving up Scylla's value.

What didn't make sense? First, I still don't get Dr. Sandinsky's role in all of this - what if he had made it to the conference? Banerjee still spoke first. Was Sandinsky was supposed to be killed, too? If so, then T-Bag putting a bullet in the guy was the same outcome. Second was Cristina's set-up job. How the hell did she throw together the plan to frame Lincoln, Self, and Mahone so quickly?!? The get-away van, fingerprints on the shell casings - I don't think it's possible she could have made that work. Mind you, she also used dental floss to rip a threaded door stop that was screwed into drywall right out of the wall, and she knew Sara was pregnant simply because she had her hand on her stomach - so I guess anything is possible.

A few more thoughts on "S.O.B." --

  • That's two weeks in a row using a title that had some cutesy double meaning - enough already.
  • Maybe it was just me, but there was absolutely no shock value whatsoever when we found out that Michael and Lincoln weren't brothers. When you're as old as they are, it doesn't really change anything between them.
  • Michael's little ammonia gas bomb that he rigged in the SUV was pretty cool. It was hilarious, though, when it made a noise like someone was filling a balloon with a helium tank. Some things on this show are so exaggerated, and I love it.
  • Are we ever going to get any more info on the Laos experiment? Why was Sandinsky so convinced that it wouldn't pay off for years to come?
One final note - it was interesting that Krantz mentioned that Cristina was never one of the original Scylla cardholders. More than any other piece of info we've learned so far, that one really speaks to her motivations. She's the disgruntled employee who never got the recognition she thought she deserved.
