Last week, TVSquad readers made our "Which shows are renewed, canceled, or on the bubble?" post the most viewed and most commented of the week. Most of the commenters voiced their opinions as to which show should be renewed, and since I also watch loads of TV, it's with no surprise that I wanted to chime in, as well. (Look for my "Series that I think should be canceled" post later this week.)Here I present you, the 10 shows I think should be renewed. Note that I did not include in this list shows that have been confirmed as renewed by the network (such as Gossip Girl), nor those that have been officially canceled (bye bye Pushing Daisies).
If you just want the list, click here.
Shows that should be renewed
10. Dollhouse
I have yet to watch the series as I work on Friday nights (I have recorded all episodes using that old thing called a VCR and will throw myself a little marathon soon). However, anything that is produced and/or written by Joss Whedon should be renewed in my book. Sadly, the show is airing on FOX and on Fridays so I'm preparing myself for the worse.

9. Better Off Ted
Being a fan of series such as Arrested Development and The Office, I'm not afraid of showing some lovin' to sitcoms that do not have laugh tracks or the usual Friends-like format. When BoT premiered, I decided to give it a chance since it seemed to be different and starred cutie Jay Harrington and funny lady Portia de Rossi. I have been entertained by every single episode since it premiered, thanks to its different format, the funny and weekly-changing title sequence for Veridian Dynamics, and because of no-nonsense de Rossi. Let's hope ABC shares the love and renews the series.

8. NCIS
It's pretty much a given that CBS will renew NCIS for a seventh season, especially since they are working on a spin-off; however, the powers that be have yet to let us know. NCIS is one of the most watched shows on CBS, and it's no surprise as it has a cast that works well together and characters we actually care about (which isn't something we can say of most procedurals). I don't only want the show to be renewed but I demand its core cast to be intact. Do you think the CBS head honchos will grant me my wish?

7. Castle
Being a huge fan of Murder, She Wrote (I still watch it in reruns almost daily), Castle is right up my alley. Nathan Fillion is a joy to watch every week in the role of Richard Castle. His interactions with NYPD Detective Kate Beckett and quick-witted teenage daughter Alexis are a delight and almost as entertaining as watching Booth and Brennan interact on Bones.

6. The Mentalist
I said it in my Festivus post in December, and I'll say it again. There are two main reasons why you should be watching: 1) actor Simon Baker, and 2) character Patrick Jane. The Mentalist not only offers a case of the week that viewers sometimes have a hard time solving, but also has the ongoing search for the infamous John Red in the background.

5. Privileged
Back in December, I let you know that one of the shows you should be watching was The CW's Privileged. Why? Two words: Joanna Garcia. The actress is just delightful in the role of Megan Smith, a tutor to two bratty teens who always find themselves in some time of trouble. The show is pretty much The O.C. meets Gossip Girl, but seeing them unfold in Smith's reality is entertaining. Thanks to NBC canceling Lipstick Jungle, Robert Buckley was hired in a role that could return next season. Would the CW deprive us from such eye candy? I hope not!

4. Bones
It's more than likely that FOX will renew Bones, considering that it's doing fair enough in ratings and has a good fan following. However, the network has yet to give the official word, prompting me to add the show to my list. Bones not only has a great ensemble cast and two leads that play oh-so-well off each other, but the cases of the week are interesting and there is actually some character development each week. All good ingredients for a series. Let's hope FOX thinks too.

3. Chuck
In late January, exec producer Josh Schwartz said that the final episodes of the season would be "game changing" and that they were putting "three seasons worth of stories into the next 10 episodes." Being a Chuck fan, I must say having loads of revelations and action has made those episodes really interesting and entertaining. Sadly, the network may think that because too many things were revealed, the show has run its course. Let's hope not because Chuck has one of the funniest spy trios on TV right now, as well as a funny ensemble cast (aka the Buy More bunch).

2. Reaper
USA Today puts this gem of an evil comedy show in the "gone or nearly dead" category. I'm thankful that the network gave the show a second season, but they need to realize that they have a smart comedy on their hands here that could help them lighten up their now drama-heavy schedule. If they need another reason to renew Reaper: Ray Wise as the Devil. I rest my case.

1. How I Met Your Mother
This show is ... wait for it ... legendary. CBS needs to "suit up" and give Barney and friends another season to let us find out who exactly is the mother, and to see what Barney will come up with next.

Please do not cancel Bones, The Mendalist or NCis, CBS. They are some of my favorite shows along with all the CSI's and House. The rest I don't watch, so have no comment about them, eccept I wish all the "funny" shows would be cancelled or cleaned up. They are getting to sexual!!

My daughter and I have found the show "Chuck" to be very entertaining. We record the show and even watch it a few times throughout the week. It is sad to think that such a high quality and funny show might be sacked by the network. Let's sack "the mentalist"--that's when we turn the channel/turn off the TV. Goes to show that for entertainment options, the network cannot be depended upon to make better decisions. Well @ least we got other entertainment options for TV--the Science channel or on demand. Otherwise we go to video games or the computer.

"Chuck" is one of the very best show's on TV now and has been for a very long time. My husband, my children and I watch "Chuck" and laugh out loud! It is such a great program to watch together! I don't understand why the "Best Buy" stores haven't aligned themselves with "Chuck" though. Every time I go into the "Best Buy" store I smile when I see their "Geek Squak" as they remind me of our beloved "Nerd Herd". I see Chucks poster in the Subway store, but would love to see the "Best Buy" connection with the "Buy More" store counterpart! Please keep this show on the air!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I speak for many, many people!

I agree with you on Chuck--Really a great show with an excellent cast---I hope it does not get cancelled like Moonlight which is another show I enjoyed. Competing with American Idol or Dancing with the Stars is tough competition but I tape the other shows and watch Chuck---It is time for Sarah to tell Chuck she loves him. We need to get that into the script. The rebirth of Chuck in the last episode really makes me anxious for the series to start their new season. This is one of the few "have to see shows"I never miss.

And here I love The Mentalist and think Chuck is just..meh. It's a good thing that we're all individuals with different tastes...now if the network heads would just understand that a steady diet of reality (and I use the word loosely) programs isn't a "one size fits all."

I am with you!!! I love Life!!! It seems any show that's well written with great characters never get a chance. If NBC didnt move its time slots so often maybe others would have appreciated it as well.

My husband and I love to watch LIFE, it's one of our favorite shows. We are now also addicted to THE MENTALIST and CASTLE. Why do they keep the stupid shows and let the really good "sleepers" go before they've had a chance? OK, TV Rulers out there, Keep the Following shows!!! LIFE, MENTALIST, CASTLE and our new favorite...BETTER OFF TED!

Since early in first season, I have been a fan of LIFE. It seemed to really hit its stride in second half of this year. Now (along with maybe Northern Exposure in its first couple of years) probably my favorite hour show of all time. I guess it has virtually no chance to be renewed; very sad.
