(S02E22) "You have my baby and I want it back." - Katie
Those of us who keep up with show spoilers were warned that this episode would be a little crazy. But what we've got instead was a whole lot of crazy and some poor writing. To me, the season finale of Private Practice felt like it was rushed way too much. I get that season finale must be action packed and end with cliffhangers, especially when the series has been renewed, but there is a limit, no?
The switching embryos storyline could have been dropped from this episode and saved for another one next season. This would have allowed for the other storylines to get more air time. The switching of embryos may have added extra drama to Dell's storyline but was nothing compared to the the reappearance of his messed-up ex asking for money in exchange for their daughter. I hope Dell doesn't give her the money and gets a lawyer asap so he can get full legal custody of his daughter. If he gives her the money, this means that all the legal issues between them will not be resolved. And who knows, maybe his ex will get sober once again and come back to get their daughter.
Am I the only one who doesn't care about the Addison/Noah storyline? I so don't care that I have nothing to say about it. Have an opinion on the subject, share it with us in comments below.
Someone finally told Charlotte that she doesn't have a heart. Okay, she does have one but it must be made of stone or ice or something similar. Even if Charlotte was fired from running the practice so that Naomi could take charge, I doubt it's the last time we've seen both of them. Charlotte could still interact with the other characters in the hospital scenes and when with Cooper. As for Naomi, she'll be in the same building, is still BFFs with Addison and Sam loves her, so it's certain we'll see her next season even if she isn't part of Oceanside anymore.
Now, for the real crazy, aka Katie. That woman needs to go to the psych ward or something. Not only did she stop taking her meds (did she ever take them), but she took the time to thoroughly research what surgical equipment she needed to perform her wacko job on Violet so to get her baby. The "You know no matter where I cut you, you won't survive?" line was chilling. I can't imagine what must be going through Violet's mind as she sees Katie prepare to cut her belly and maybe kill her in the process.... Wow! I doubt that the show will kill off Violet but for sure she'll be pretty messed up if one of the guys doesn't arrive before Katie does too much damage.
So it looks like Violet choose Pete. But is he the father? Even if the show tried to pack this episode with action and cliffhangers, that's about the only question we will really be thinking over the summer hiatus.
What did you think of PP's season finale? Was it too crazy? Are you looking forward to next season? What do you think will happen next for each characters? Share your thoughts and theories in comments below.

I enjoyed PRIVATE PRACTICE even more than "Greys A" this year .However I thought the SF was way over the top.I liked most of the ending but the Violet getting a "c-section" by a "sick patient" was way over the top".
This patient was brought back out of nowhere,we had very little time to get to know her again, and bang next thing we know she is knockingon Violet"s door and performing an unrealistic procedure or better yet something we have seen too often lately in the news.(women who can't have kids who kidnap women and "rip" the babies out of them)
I thought it was a really disapointing ending.
I liked the way Adison left her "saga". Im still going to watch next year, just disapointed in the ending.I presume
we will pick up next fall where Violet is in her living room about to be "cut in her abdomen" and one of the men in her lives will come to her rescue.

I just did not enjoy the season finale at all. I dont like the part of where Violet was attacked and about have stomach ripped open by a crazy lady trying to get her baby. I thought that was gruesom. It really got to me.
Even upset me.

I think the switching of embroys was needed... it gave Naomi an out as it were, and it let Dell off the hook so to speak.
Was I the only one that screamed at Cooper just to walk in the house and put down his bag?

I was SO yelling at Cooper!! Of course he should have at least poked his head in to check on Violet since she is a week past her due date...OR Sheldon should have went over to her house to check on her after she didn't pick up the phone.
Loved the Season Finale and I gotta say that I'm SO glad she picked Pete! I hope somebody catches Katie soon...this is going to throw a huge wrench into Violet moving on and being happy with her new life with Pete...

the whole embryo switching thing was important in terms of providing Naomi with an excuse/reason to leave. Was I the only one completely drawn into the season finale? Although there was a lot going on, it was still an amazing way to end the season in terms of going out with a bang and making sure people stay tuned (crazy cliffhangers)
and yes, private practice has surpassed my expectations and based on this season, i would say private practice > grey's anatomy.

NOOO! You weren't the only one.. when he heard something and stopped, i felt my heart stop, and then he shook it off and walked away.. uuuuhhhh!!!
I dunno what everyone's talking about. I thought the season finale was incredible. and you are absolutely right, we needed the embryo story line to give naomi an out. I thought everything was well planned and I thought the writers did a good job. The crazy lady (katey) someone said there wasnt enough of her or whatever. But I think there was just enough. You can't kill it. There was the episode where she lost her baby. then she came back and you got the feeling that they had been doing follow up sessions and stuff.. i dont know what else you need. and i dont love the whole thing with addison and that guy, but its kinda interesting because of her character's past. the cheating and what-not.. I absolutely loved this season finale.. and it kept me wanting more.. what else could you ask for. not looking forward to waiting till like, december to see what happens next though.. =[

terrible season finale, at this point I don't even care if the show gets cancelled, they've made every character a total moron too many times. How many times are we going to watch addison struggle to decide whether or not to kiss some guy?

I haven't watched the show for the past 6 episodes, and I posted this on another board, but I'm going to repeat here as I'm hoping someone can clarify for me. Doesn't Naomi already have her own practice? Even though she handed management over to Addison, she still owns it. Also, doesn't she own the building? Why is she working for someone who's renting from her? Doesn't he mind, that she made a snap decision regarding financing her office? Finally, why would she want to hand off the power of working for herself?

I agree this was a bit overwrought, but I have to admit I was on the edge of my seat when we were shown just what Katie had in mind. Here's hoping the writers take the easy way out and have Cooper return in time to save Violet and the baby.

Sam and Naomi started the Oceanside Wellness Center but all of the doctors there are partners in the business. Naomi may have started it with Sam, but she's not the only "owner." Addison was chosen to head the practice so in a sense she's the boss.

I realize that I'm in the minority, but I enjoy PP much more than GA. I'll admit that the finale was a bit hodgepodge, but I liked it -- they left almost every character's short-term fate hanging in the unknown summer ether, but so what? It is a fun show, and not so take-me-serious as Grey's Anatomy, which, with the exception of yesterday's very decent finale, acts like a strung-out drama queen most of the time.
Anyway, my point is that I did like this finale. I think Violet's story line is appropriate -- it's about time either Pete or Sheldon help her, instead of Cooper (who sucks at relationships) further sacrificing his already-floundering romance. Also, my bet's on Sheldon as the father -- this will complicate Violet and Pete's fledgling relationship. And as for Addison's cliffhanger, I want to know what happens. Ever since we first met her, she has seemed like a caring and good woman, worthy of a relationship, yet she always finds a way to sabotage her love life. Starting off with a married man is not a good decision, but I'm still wondering how it'll turn out.
Again, I realize I'm in the minority, but I'm glad PP is renewed. It's the only reason I watch GA (since it's on just before).

This show should be cancelled, and Addison and Sam should get transferred back to seattle grace/GA permanantly.
Plus, how disturbing was it that Violet was awake and about to witness her own c section by a crazy patient. Disturbing!

I think this was way over the top and really turned me off. I may not watch it. The scene with Violette was disturbing and gave me nightmares. This was gross and way out of sync with the normal episodes. I don't like to watch shows with this kind of content. I hope the writers read these comments.

I haven't watched PP in a while but got sucked back in a couple of months ago. This is the finale that's going to be eating away at me all summer. Violet!!! If she survives this (and the baby! the baby!) she'll be so traumatized. So sad. She had her one tiny happy moment.
Addison and Noah just need to get together. Get married. Done.

This show had such promise. And yet over the season it have morphed into a ridiculous show with inprobable storylines. As if real medical issues aren't dramatic enough, each one of theirs is wrought with unrealistic premises and too quick resolutions. This last episode will be my last (and as a major advertiser for a large company, the last one we'll buy) because it insults one's intelligence. Try watching Southland, Friday Night Lights or Trust Me (which needs to be renewed!) for far better storylines, writing and acting.

I thought the episode was amazing. I was at the edge of my seat and didn't want to miss a minute of it.
The stuff with violet was bone chilling. Yes it was scary and disturbing but it also made for some great tv. I am so excited about finding out what happens.
I was screaming at my tv for cooper to go in and check on her. I was screaming at crazy lady to leave violet and her baby alone. I was screaming and cursing at charlotte for calling cooper when he was at the door. I thought it was just riveting.
The Addison/Noah stuff is great. I think its because they have this chemistry and they seem to be drawn to each other and I believe it. I just like the forbidden aspect of their relationship. I am so rooting for them.
Looking forward to the next season.

My gosh how simple are you? "Bone chilling" to describe a corny sceen where she is able to talk but cant move her body.
You were "screaming" throughout the show...sitting on the edge of your seat? Either this is a plant or you are really beyond simple.
And glad to see you are rooting for a man leaving his wife and new baby! Good idea! Great head on your shoulders!
