(S08E15) I finally learned my lesson and turned the channel at the minute before the top of the hour. I was rewarded with the Team Tango dance. I was dreading the group week, because I thought that whichever team got Ty, it would have been a crutch. I was wrong; there was no Susan Lucci this year. The synchronicity of the end sequence is great to see.Tonight's recap pointed out two odd things I never noticed: 1) There was a woman's head that blocked part of the judge's table; if I were the producers, I'd ask her to move. 2) Bruno sniffed Ty's shirt when he took it off during the Team Tango. More odd nuances after the jump.

Cheesy Commercials – Most of them were decent. I found it funny that the first "celebrity" based commercial didn't have Chuck or Melissa. Although they showed up later for a dating commercial, the fact that they weren't in the first commercial lowers their celebrity status by a bit. There is also a gratifying shot of Gilles in a mime outfit, stereotypical hat, eating a baguette. The last commercial was a PETA parody replacing the A with a D for Dancers. The only funny part is noticing that Derek has size issues.
Robin Thicke – When I Get You Alone – I can't believe that he would perform a song when he was known as just Thicke and rode around on a bike with a big 'fro. We get the attack of canaries for the professionals. I can't help but stare at Edyta's lack of clothes and Dmitry's smirk. I like how in the end all the men except for Alec looked lovingly at Edyta.
The "perfect star" – Apparently, the ultimate Franken-Celebrity consists of Chuck's mentality, Gilles' arms, Ty's core, Melissa's legs, Shawn's feet, and Lil Kim's porn face. Seriously, Lil Kim has a lot more qualities than just the blow-up doll look.
Robin Thicke - Sidestep - The professionals are Pasha & Anya, more So You Think You Can Dance? alumni. Robin Thicke's dancing is distracting, albeit cute. Did the backup singers even sing anything? It's nice to see more alumni do well, but if there's going to be one season with all SYTYCD alumni, I'm gonna gag.
Professional Dancer Competition:
Genya & Afton – Quickstep – The legacy partners get paired up as we lost Brent and Snow (boo!). Genya admits to not dancing ballroom style in ages, which isn't the best thing to admit to America. Afton likes creating a hybrid dance style, also something that isn't the best thing to admit; Len would bash her for not being accurate. They decide to use a lot of emotions. Afton almost kicked someone in the audience in the face. They seemed light on their feet enough, except I wasn't a fan of Genya's face. In the end, Afton slips and can't sit on the judges' table; she does her best to cover it up.
Len points out the blunder at the end, but loved the dance overall. Bruno liked the characterization of the dance. The range of steps went well, as well. Carrie Ann was worried about Genya not knowing ballroom, but she was impressed that he covered it well. She appreciates Afton for being a good teacher.
Mayo & Anya – Jive – They decide to pretend that the dance floor is hot lava. Mayo wants to be versatile; I totally took that the wrong way. They want both basic steps to please Len and flashy crap for America. Mayo seems too tall for the competition; at 6'3" he's gonna need a partner who is Stacey Keibler's height.
Carrie Ann loved both of the dancers. Mayo overcame the height. Len has been wrong twice this week: first about Ty, second about height and Latin dances. Bruno loved the cleanliness and sharpness. He felt shanked by Mayo and loved the beauty of Anya.
After the hassle of slow saves, we finally got to the elimination. The couple eliminated is Chuck & Julianne. If it wasn't for Melissa's rib, everyone knew that the bottom two would have been Chuck & Ty. And being the classy guy he is, Chuck blamed the group dance.
Next week, we basically get ten different dances. Ty may get lucky with his Argentine Tango. Also, there are former celebrities helping train potential professional dancers. I want Master P, Cloris Leachman, and The Woz back.

Well, 90% of the reason I watch DWTS is Julianne Hough - I'm not proud of it, but facts is facts. Sure she wears too much makeup, and has never said anything without giggling, I'm not exactly a big fan of country music and I'm left with questions about magic Mormon underwear....
..however, it's hard to argue with the reptilian part of my brain that lights up when the talented, fit, feminine Julianne shows up in those DWTS outfits.

I love when she's on screen. She's gorgeous. I miss Kym and Lacey as well, they are both really attractive too. Now the hottest woman left is Melissa. This show gets less and less interesting as it goes on towards the final. I miss Woz.

As you said "I can't help but stare at Edyta's lack of clothes and Dmitry's smirk. I like how in the end all the men except for Alec looked lovingly at Edyta."
Alec probably didn't look lovingly at Edyta because they are married in real life! HA HA
