Here's another reason to love Adult Swim. Cartoon Network's late night brand -- home to some of the best animated fare on TV, like The Venture Bros. and the awesome G.I. Joe Resolute -- will begin airing the original BBC version of The Office starting this summer. The network will air both seasons of the British comedy, produced by Ricky Gervais, plus the Christmas special. This is great news for U.S. comedy nerds dying to introduce the show to their friends (and don't feel like buying all three DVD box sets). Hopefully they'll air it in between Aqua Teen and Tim and Eric -- and not at 4 a.m.!
I love this show, and I love the NBC version. I won't even try to compare the two here, since the NBC version has evolved into such a completely different show. But there's one thing the NBC version is missing -- Ricky Gervais. I'm aware of Gervais' producing role on the show, but I've always wanted to see him make a cameo as David Brent -- the UK version of Michael Scott.
There have been rumors about Gervais showing up on the NBC show, but they've all been denied. Gervais told TV Guide last year that he would be open to a cameo, but he probably wouldn't play David Brent. He'd rather play Andy Melman from Extras.
I'd watch that too. What about you, folks, Would you like to see Ricky Gervais meet the Dunder Mifflin gang? And are you excited about The Office airing on Adult Swim?

Will it have subtitles? ;-) I don't typically have trouble understanding the dialogue of other British shows - but for some reason, I can't understand a lot of what they say on the the UK version of The Office...

That would be awesome. Gervais on the US office would make for a great story arc.

Who cares, everyone DVRs everything anyways. And why would you want LESS choices?

Ordinarily, I'd agree with you - I don't like CN showing live action stuff either. However, and I'm aware this is a technicality, AS isn't CN. It's considered an entirely separate network that happens to share the same channel with CN.
AS has had a number of live-action shows, and The Office looks to be another in their recent trend of showing British imports such as Look Around You and The Mighty Boosh.

Every dollar CN spends on live action is a dollar less for animation. Time Warner hasn't spread original animation to its other networks either, so honestly a half hour of live action on CN is an half hour of less animation on TV in general.
Considering we've lost 70/30 studios... More live action isn't really what I want. Other channels can show British imports, let Adult Swim do what Adult Swim is virtually alone in doing...
