(S05E20) "Everything that ever mattered to me is gone." - Dave
Now that Edie's ashes have been spread out over the Housewives' lawns, the Wisteria Lane residents went back to their normal lives, which means awkward situations, lies, revelations, secrets, more lies, and Dave's mysterious and deadly plan.
For most of the episode, Dave did look like he had given up on his plan to hurt Mike's loved ones and instead decided to skip town and start anew. Maybe he would have committed suicide eventually, since everything that mattered to him was gone. But a revelation from Susan -- she was the one behind the wheel when Dave's wife and daughter were killed -- changed Dave's perspective on life and gave him his deadly groove back.
I may have enjoyed Dave's storyline from the start, but if he is going after MJ, as suggested by the final scene, I will stop being a Dave supporter. However, if he goes after Susan ... I might change my opinion ... How about you?
How weird is it that Gaby is president of a garden club, eh? She went from high-maintenance wife to soccer mom to gardener mom? She definitely grew a lot more than we thought she did during that five-year jump in between seasons. But as expected, everything Gaby does includes some gossiping, gardening included. I've been enjoying seeing Tom and Gaby become buddies and keeping each other straight. Tom has been put on the back burner earlier this season and seeing him under this new light is interesting. He clearly is still going through his mid-life crisis, so it'll be interesting to see what he comes up with next and how Gaby will be involved in it. Those scenes are particularly interesting because Tom and Gaby really don't have the same backgrounds and experiences.
I'm not happy with the way the Orson/Bree relationship is going. I've been a fan of that couple from the start, but the writers gave Orson a bad storyline this season and made me go from an Orson/Bree shipper to an Orson/Bree hater because of Orson's childish behavior and stealing habit. Sadly, I think they damaged the Orson character so bad that he and Bree must divorce and the writers must write Orson out of the show. Good thing for us that Katherine told Bree about the Death stealing things story so that Bree could connect the dots and know that Orson would not stop lying as he promised. Poor Bree, though. She had to swallow her pride and admit that Andrew was right about her needing a divorce lawyer pretty soon.
The episode helped set the table for May Sweeps: Dave will go after MJ and/or Susan, Tom will surely try something new to feel young, Bree will see a lawyer to divorce Orson, Katherine and Mike will need to talk about commitment, and for sure there will be some sort of business crisis for Carlos and Lynette to take care of.
Only three weeks left of Desperate Housewives episodes this year. The season ends with a two-hour installment on May 17. Oh, and in case you were worried, ABC announced that DH would be back for a sixth season last week.

Didn't we always know it was Susan driving the car? I've always wondered why Dave blamed Mike

We knew that Susan was driving but Dave didn't. He assumed that it was Mike given that Mike was the one in the driver's seat when the cops came by. But as we know now, Susan switched places with Mike as to not get in trouble because she didn't have her license.
I thought it was a good twist that Susan confessed to Dave. I didn't see that coming and I always was a little upset that Mike was being targeted. It's just too bad for Susan that she kept this huge secret to everyone and then goes and tells only 1 person and that person happened to be the husband and father of the 2 people killed.

Remember the final seasons of "Bewitched" when the plot lines were recycled? DHW now gives me the same feeling - I know basically whats going to happen, in large part because we've seen it all before...
Kinda surprised Marc Cherry didn't dedicate the episode to Bea Arthur...
