Big Love's plans for season four...and what happened to Roman

Big love family
The answer to one of last season's big questions on Big Love was answered the other day when the cast and creators of the HBO drama met the press at the Paley Festival in L.A. You may recall that a certain prophet by the name of Roman Grant was left for dead after Joey Hendrickson had reached his breaking point. When I wrote about the season finale, I wondered if we had actually seen the last of Roman?

You don't have to wait till next fall for the answer, after the jump I'll tell you what executive producer Mark V. Olsen revealed, and it's not only about Roman. There's big news about Big Love.

First, Roman. He will be part of the story lines to come, but he did not survive being suffocated with a pillow by Joey. He's dead. There will be funeral and Alby and Bill and Nicki will be talking about him, but don't anticipate a resurrection or sci-fi reanimation. Roman is gone. Also, Olsen said there are no Lost-like flashbacks on Big Love. Ever.

The new religion created by Bill for his family, which they are calling the Church of Bill, is going to be a big thing for the Hendricksons. And if you put that together with the theme of season four, the subjugation of women, you have to wonder if Bill's religion will be any more welcoming of Barb than LDS was in season three.

Up at Juniper Creek with Roman dead, Alby will fortify his position as the top dog, but if you think Adaleen is going to let Alby get away with trying to kill her (the letter bomb), think again.
