How about you? These new ads are trying to say you shouldn't pay a lot for a computer, especially those damn Macs that, well, everyone who uses them really loves. (Disclaimer: yes, I'm typing this on a Mac.)
Well, she's right about one thing: she isn't cool enough to own a Mac.
Did she just call her son "dude?".

The message seems to be "our computers are cheap." Even if that's the right message for the moment, it doesn't like a good long-term strategy to me. At some point, the economy will be better and people will want computers are more than merely cheap. Does Microsoft really want to brand itself that way? (And yes, I am typing this on a Mac.)

Oh come on, what is this BS.
Yes I'm typing this on a mac, and I think it's great that some one is trying to take it to apple.

Complete BS. I can't believe that this is even on television. I feel like they are trying to air like mini infomercials or something. I almost miss "Project Mojave" now.

Slate magazine already talked about this way more comprehensively and intelligently.

I fail to see why you need to infect yet another blog with Mac vs. PC angst. Can't we have just one site -- ONE DAMNED SITE -- where nerds don't make a side show of infantile, fallacy laiden Mac vs. PC arguments? How about a site about TV SHOWS. Sounds like a shelter from the crap-storm. Why not?
And for the record: *grumble*

Oh Come on - they're not bad. In fact they're quite good from an advertising standpoint. They don't try to be overly prudish (like the mac ads are these days). They also don't try to be "artistic" - remember Seinfeld and Gates? Now those were awful.
Seriously, the Apple ads, while highly identifiable, have gotten stale. Yes, we know - you're hipper and cooler than PCs. And yes anyone who doesn't use a Mac is a tool. Got it. But it's time for some new energy. Really. Move on. You've milked this one more than a 2 month old with an unlimited amount of time between Selma Hayek's Boobies.
And for PC - get that Windows 7 out this year. Really. Get an advertising campaign behind it that shows Why people still use it as opposed to macs. Don't try to compete with Mac's tragically hip advertising campaign. You can't win it , again Seinfeld/Gates.
For the record - written on a Mac, but I own both and use them daily.

Count me in as a PC hater. I recently was forced to use an HP laptop - brand new and all gigged up with the bells and whistles -- and I found it cumbersome and awkward. Everything took at least one or two steps extra.
So, yes, these ads bug me. They sell a lie. The way I see it, you buy cheaper, you get cheaper quality. Mac is more user-friendly, has built-in software that works and an OS system that's smart. I'm not a Mac nut, but I know that I like every Mac I've ever owned and I can't say the same about PCs.
Oh, and Mac Vs. PC has just put out new ads that are great. Check them out. They're not tired at all.

Bob Sassone: Proving once again that 90% of mac users are people who go out of there way to be generally... douche-y.
And for the record... everybody hates commercials in general. Why don't you just.. I don't know.. talk about a TV Show.

I totally confirm the sentiments of rndmnme. A massive WTF on this article.
To BOB:
Dude, this is really lame. Thank you for confirming that all of the good writers have left this blog.
We, your readers, really valued your and the rest fo teh other writer's at TV squad'd insight and capacity to write about TV(pilots, shows, movies, reruns). I liked the reviews that you give of shows and the ideas of showing us shows that we should be watching. And then you got corporate, you sold out to the man. And no longer do you discuss any BBC shows or Non US shows(BBC AMERICA doesn't count) or for that matter go into detail about shows that are not in the AOHell TimeWorthless world. (BTW, if you want to talk bout tangental TV stuff how about GE's stock price & the potential to dump NBC or even the idea that your beloved employer is going chapter 11 in the not so distant future.)
Instead, you have simply become a mouthpiece for lame ass marketing and PR departments in traditional media that are going the way of the Edsel. Where are the open ended discussions inviting us in? Where are the NEW discussions? Where are the liveblogs or the epsidoe reviews posted after the episode airs not 10 hours later?
I'd rather watch Entertainment Tonight than read this and I guess I will be .
Adios. You had my respect once but you will never have it again.

Can't say I agree with the 90% of mac owners being douches... But while the mac commercials are 100% douchy; the Microsoft commercials seem pretty honest Less Expensive? CHECK. Larger Selection? CHECK . The Microsoft commercials largely ignore quality and feature comparisons, but whatev... its a god damn commercial. Again, this isn't a commercial blog... it's a TV blog.
And Kip is right... what is going on with this blog? Many of the people who write about these shows don't even like what they're reviewing: Sarah Conner Chronicles? My Boys? I'm not saying these shows are going to win awards... but I don't come to this blog to have my viewing habits insulted. If it weren't for the "What's on Tonight" posts this blog would be history....

"crapple fanboys" Hmm. you've obviously never contributed to a Apple bashing thread... (note sarcasm)
Regardless of the claims they make in the commercials, the guy in the first one here is so full of himself, it's disgusting.

I don't know about the validity of the argument that these Windows commercials are trying to make, but at least Microsoft is finally fighting back.
I have no problem with the Mac platform itself but I absolutely HATE the douchebaggery elitism of the Mac userbase. Didn't know Bob Sassone was among them until today.

It's not a PC's fault you have an inferiority complex because of your 1 button mouse.
At least these commercials are rather truthful, compared to the Apple ads.

Of course, you actually know that Macs have supported multiple button mice for, like, forever? And a 4-button mouse has been shipped with Macs for years?
This is an example that the "douchebaggery" accusation that PC fans level at Mac fans is equal to their own snide and obnoxious behavior. The number of PC users slandering Mac users in this comment thread far outnumber the other side, which is an ironic eye-opener. And the only comment I've seen voted down and into oblivion so far is one defending Macs.
Like in politics, each side cherrypicks facts and distorts them.
I can't quite figure out what either side has to gain by firing shots at the other; do people get some sort of referral payment by convincing people to buy into their favorite platform? Are Steve Jobs and Steve Ballmer secretly best pals, standing behind a curtain and laughing all the way to the bank as the observe the war they set in motion?
I feel rather stupid for having opened my big yap and adding to the fire.

Yeah, saying that Macs use a one button mouse and using the term "crapple" won't convince any Apple fanatics that they're being douche bags.

Is this site going to start reviewing all of the commercials on television now? I don't know what the point of this post is. You literally only typed four sentences. Do you get paid for this?
In the future, lets spend less time on commercials, and more time on actual tv stuff. Most people I know either fast forward through the commercials or use that time to get up and get a snack.
