What do you call an animated show whose premiere is sandwiched between two other highly-rated animated shows yet still manages to be third in its timeslot? You could call it a lot of things. You could call it "poor" or "slow". You know what I call it? A one-season show.Seriously, I watched the premiere of Sit Down, Shut Up (and it was reviewed here on TV Squad), and while I thought some bits were funny, I don't see it lasting more than a season on Fox, if that. This is a network that is quick to pull the plug on many quirky shows (including Hurwitz's previous work, Arrested Development).
I could be wrong. Arrested Development lasted three seasons and animated shows are only a fraction of the budget of live-action ones. If his last show is any indicator, Sit Down, Shut Up is probably one of those shows that rewards loyal viewers with various Easter eggs and hidden double-meanings. Hopefully Fox will give it time.

I tried. I really did. But I could not make it through the first episode. It was very clever at times. But it was not funny... at all. I may give it another chance if I ever catch it on again. Hopefully things wil gel together more in future episodes.

I love "Arrested Development", and I love all the voice talent. But I read at least four really miserable reviews of this show before it aired. One included numerous "jokes" from the show. All seemed incredibly stupid. The character names sound like they were created by 10-year-old boys, or maybe a room full of drunk writers. I did not watch it.

are you talking about AD or Sit down and Shut Up?

I mean STSU, of course. "Arrested Development" premiered to great reviews from critics, and I said I loved it.

I really wanted to like the show, based on the talent behind it, but I switched off half-way through. I don't know, maybe it's not horrible, but when it's contrasted with Family Guy, it's very obvious which show is funny, and which isn't.
It's the same thing with Parks and Recreation, maybe it''s not a horrible show, but when it's sandwiched between 30 Rock and The Office, it seems bland.

Im confused, you start out saying SDSU is not funny but then you compare it to family guy. So which is it?

@ Jeff
Not sure if you are being sarcastic and hating on Family Guy but Scott said contrasted, so he likes Family Guy and doesn't like SDSU.

while i admit less people watched it.
it got a higher rating in the 18-49 than the simpsons, did it not?
I admit i haven't watched it yet, but don't the networks just adore that demographic? isn't that why there were/are rumours of without a trace being cancelled, even though MILLIONS watch that show?

I think the rumored 'Without a Trace' cancellation is mainly to do with the show costing so much to produced, with the wrong demographics being an unfortunate kicker.

Simpsons had a 3.0 18-49 rating.
SDSU - 2.3
Family Guy - 3.8

This was really really bad. I mean superbad. Get it? Superbad... ha ha...
That's about the level of the jokes on "Sit Down, Shut up". "Breaking Bad" was funnier than this.

Wait. I'm confused. Did someone say they thought Family Guy was funny? I would rather watch According to Jim any day of the week.

This show was SOOO bad I think it's likely to be pulled after its second or third outing. Oh yeh, it's that bad. Ya know, it seems like something you'd find on MTV or Comedy Central since it seems more niche than mainstream.

It was horrifically bad, which sucks considering who's involved with the show. It's unimaginative and too over the top, even for an animated series. It's sad that it'll only get one season because of the folks involved but even sadder when you realize that this show isn't going to improve no matter the time given to let it grow.

How come this seems like the 8th story I've read about this show on here? What did FOX pay you guys to give them so much advertising?
