Another colossal exclusive! The State restates the state of The State DVD

The State on MTVThere seems to be some mixed messages on the status of The State DVD. Those of you who are sitting on the edge of your computer chair, chewing your fingernails down to the marrow know this isn't really new news.

This time, however, there seems to be disagreement within the ranks of the comedy troupe.

We reported earlier this month about State member and recent Reno 911! addition Joe Lo Truglio announcing a release date for the long beleaguered DVD of the complete series. The following week, the group's official site, run by writer, director and cast member David Wain according to their FAQ, denied that any date for the DVD's release has been set.

The site stated on April 14 that "there is still no official release date for The State MTV series DVDs." It also assured their loyal and ever patient fans that, "As soon as we know anything for sure we'll post here."

So who's right? Hell if I know. If I had the answer to that question, I wouldn't be sitting here writing this blog entry. I would be getting a good night's sleep because I would have to get up in the morning to make the sun rise.

The answer is simple. MTV should just release the damn thing already. I'm sure the issue is very complicated and features more unreadable legal pitfalls than a gym membership. But you're part of a multibillion dollar media conglomeration who could throw enough lawyers at the problem to make it go away before they hit the ground.

Are you worried about sales? I'll promise to buy a copy when it comes out. There's one right there.

Are promotions on your mind? Take out a billboard or two. Run some ads on one of your networks. Teach random stray dogs to speak its release date.

Are music copyrights holding up production? Just take it out. Since when has MTV ever had anything to do with music?
