Britain's Got Talent has yet another clip currently sweeping the Internet, and it's in the form of Susan Boyle and her striking voice. In a craze that has made me never want to hear "Never judge a book by its cover" again, the clip of Boyle singing her heart out and wow-ing the visibly skeptical crowd has reminded us to never judge a book by ... its ... cover. Damn it, it's unavoidable, isn't it? Well, point is, people want more, and thanks to some digging, The Daily Record has found a recording of Boyle singing "Cry Me A River" from an extremely limited 1999 charity CD. Give it a listen, Boyle fans. You'll be delighted.
And no, it's not the Justin Timberlake version.
Not too shabby, right? Hopefully, Boyle will get to have a bit more fun with her newfound fame and get to do what she has always wanted to do. I consider myself to be a relatively cold-hearted robot, but I'm a sucker for a good underdog story.

I tried telling my mother that I had the entire premise of this clip. First off, Brits are not known to have the most drop dead gorgeous people anyway (just look at their tv shows). Who are they to decide that she fits the "book cover" scenario? I think it's awful. And they're playing up that she has never been kissed. Awww, but she can siiiing! I bet she's a beautiful person, and now everyone is saying she's ugly on the outside. I hate that.

I think it's Susan's feistiness that won me over - she said I'm going to wow them and dammit, she did. There are plenty of fabulous singers locked away in church choirs everywhere. The fact that she decided she was going on this nationally televised show and seek recognition is a fun story and people relate to it.

I'm not one for commenting about anything on line or else where, but when I first heard Susan Boyle I was so touched. I have listened to her audition at least 10 times a day. I can not wait until her first cd comes out. To listen to her sing is an experience like no other. Her voice is a gift that I hope she has an opportunity to share with the world.

Sorry, maybe she has a future in opera but you have to be photogenic to make it in mainstream music, I don't make the rules, I just enjoy 'em.

Yeah, photogenic. Like Elvis Costello. Or Mick Jagger. Or about a thousand other rock stars that get by on only having talent and an awesome stage presence.
I'm not saying she has lasting power, but it has nothing to do with her looks. That's just stuff that music labels put out there so that they have an endless supply of shooting star bands/musicians.

ANYONE EVER HEAR OF MAHALIA JACKSON OR KATE SMITH? IF I WERE HALF MY AGE, I'D MARRY HER IN A HEARTBEAT. SHE IS WHAT WE OLD TIMMERS CALL A KEEPER.

She celebrated her success like a little child, and she waved at the people with the dignity of the Queen, with the addition of a warm kiss for everyone in the theater. She is a miracle of loveliness. Her spirit of kindness, her humor in the face of the meanest criticism, her smile, the light in her eyes all make her so beautiful. And then she starts to sing...

Comment 8, you said it perfectly!!! Also, when they say don't judge a book by its cover, I don't think that it implies that she is ugly. I haven't heard anyone call her ugly. She is not ugly. She is beautiful.. She stole my heart. I could watch that clip of her audition all day. I can't wait to hear her sing other songs. I am so happy for her. I hope she has continued success. Simon's expressions were priceless!! He gazed at her like she was an angel. You go girl!!

I could not hold my tears. She is exceptional and yet peole looked down on her before they heard her voice.
I wish her all the best and hope that the fame would not change her personalities as a talented, simple, and modest singer.
I waiting for her albums.

OMG! "Not too shabby"? Dear heavenly days, not at all. DY-NO-MITE! I could put that on a loop and play it for days and days. The Divine Velvet Voice, that's what she is on this song. I've never heard anything so sublime. If her "Les Mis" audition made Simon look at her as if she were an angel, this one would have made him look as if she were the Second Coming--not to be sacriligious--but she is utterly heavenly singing this.
I simply can't think of enough superlatives for this "River" performance. I'm American, but if Britain doesn't vote her the winner, they are, as a country, completely insane. Vote, people, VOTE! We in the US only wish we could--for the divine Ms. Susan Boyle!

how hateful and immature you are to judge people by their looks. too many people have "looks" that the masses deign as acceptable. her looks reflect the like she actually lived - not vicariously, but, LIVED. nothing wrong with that. she probably looks a lot better than most of you reading this.
talent is what's important. skills. talent.
not your stupid derrieres or nose.

I adore this woman--simply adore her--that her exquisite talent has been allowed to languish for all this time is a blight on our society. Of course it all has to do with looks (for women at least)--we are so base. But a face is only as beautiful as the soul behind it. That makes Ms. Boyle one of the most beautiful women in the world. That she has a voice that stirs the soul makes her a singular treasure. May she soar to the heavens and live happily ever after.
