Yeah, I know you thought The Sarah Connor Chronicles was canceled, but we've yet to hear anything official from Fox concerning the show's future. Series writer Ashley Edward Miller and creator Josh Friedman used Twitter this week to debunk Michael Ausiello's claim that the show is toast, and star Brian Austin Green seems hopeful about a third season happening.I love the show, but like I said in my review of last week's season finale, the chances of a third season are slim to none. Even the high DVR ratings might not save it. But Fox hasn't terminated TSCC yet, and there's still a chance we might get to see that third season featuring (SPOILER HERE!) John Connor living in the post-Judgement Day future.
If a third season does happen, there's a good chance we'll see a lot more of Jonathan Jackson as John Connor's dad, Kyle Reese.
Jackson played Reese (originally played by Michael Biehn in the original Terminator movie) in four TSCC episodes, including February's "The Good Wound." Reaction to Jackson's performance in that ep was pretty mixed, according to TVS readers, but I thought the actor did a good job of bringing out the character's vulnerable side.
Some of you didn't care for Jackson, but I'm looking forward to the possibility of watching him play Reese again and interacting with John and Derek Reese (Green) in the post-apocalyptic future.
What about you, TSCC fans? Did Jackson's surprise appearance in the season finale make you want to see more of him, or would you rather forget about him?

I really wanted to like this show but it was too much character drama and not enough "cool Terminator stuff". I wanted it to be more sci-fi...frankly I don't care about "a young man's struggle to relate to his mother and find love and save the world but he's got so much ANGST!"
TSCC, watch Lost this season to find out how to develop characters while at the same time moving the plot along in interesting ways. The Terminator-verse is ripe for some really cool stuff (hello, murderous robots), but TSCC needs to stop watching Heroes and getting dragged down in character drama.

In other words, you just wanted a "terminator of the week" show... that would be lame. I love how this show was done, it's one of my favorite 5 shows on TV, and I desperately want a 3rd season. Yes, some of the season 2 episodes were slow and boring... only a few. The Good Wound being one of them (that trilogy of Sarah-centric episodes). But the show as a whole is fantastic. And to end it with the great season 2 finale would just be a crime - especially since it's Fox's own fault that the show didn't get great ratings - people don't watch TV friday nights, they DVR it. The vast majority of people who are home, don't go out, and are watching TV on a friday at 8pm are the fat, dumb, semi-retarded slovenly mouth-breathing, drooling, cheetos-munching idiots who are unable to watch anything but reality shows. Celebrity Dancing, Basketweaving with the Stars, and Kitchen Cookoff (with the Stars!).
Sadly enough, I think a 3rd season of TSCC would be more likely if the show had been nothing but a weekly battle with a different 'badguy' terminator, each with a different ability (NEXT WEEK - can the Connors survive a terminator with lasers on its head!!? Tune in to find out!!!). Sounds like you'd be one of those more interested in such a show. Fortunately the writers of TSCC chose not to cater to your crowd. And their reward is having the show seconds from cancellation.

Not at all, I'd actually hate that. I just want more things to HAPPEN. I kept watching episodes and I felt like nothing was happening but either a lot of talking or set ups for future episodes that never paid off. Maybe the pacing was a little slow for me. I don't like monster-of-the-week at all - so many shows have gotten better when they got away from that and into story arcs. I was so intruiged with Weaver this season and everything, but it just couldn't hold me.

I resent your characterization of me--I do not eat cheetos.
As for your other points, I mostly agree, especially that this is one of the Top 5 or so TV shows going. And I for one didn't mind the Sarah-centric episodes so much, but yeah, I can see why people thought they were slow. But this has been really pretty good storytelling.
I would implore everyone to go out and buy the DVDs, and buy them from places like Wal-Mart and Best Buy and Target, not second hand like on Ebay, so that the big wigs behind TSCC can see the impact this show can make on their bottom line ABOVE AND BEYOND the ratings.
SAVE SARAH CONNOR!!!

He was in a prior episode to the finale, and seemed to do well with the character. Only issue I have with him is the patchy beard ;)

He was great on General Hospital as a youngster years ago and I've always wished for him a meaty role. This could have been it, so yes, I'd love to see him back (and I agree about losing the beard).

JPN: fair enough. I can respect that. you wouldn't hear me complaining if cameron had kicked a little more ass and beaten up a few more people. Especially Ellison....
Does anyone know how expensive this show is to produce? Also, can anyone confirm that TSCC was given a discount on the "Terminator" franchise license fee b/c of the upcoming movie, and now that the movie will be out in a month there won't be any reason to give them the same discount for a Season 3 of TSCC. Aside from the licensing fees and fixed costs like actor salaries, I wouldn't think this show would be too expensive. CGI is incredibly cheap these days, and there are no real "sets" for the show. We had the house (which was just a house, nothing special) and Weaver's office - which is now blown up. I can't imagine it would cost 3-5 million bucks per episode the way it does for a show like Lost. Anyone have any info on this? I think it's relevant for the prospects of a season 3.

I think the guy is too soft looking and in character. Beihn's Kyle was stong and intense. Unfortunately, the guy playing John is soft and mild as well. We should see signs of his leadership abilities and strength but we do not at this point. Leena as Sarah is carrying the show, along with BA Green, Manson as Weaver and John Henry and Allison.
And please bring back Jesse. Hell, she is a better Kyle than Jackson.

Fox is insane if they cancel Terminator and Dollhouse. They need to just give up reading neilson ratings for Fridays and stick just SCI FI programming. I know it's a strange concept, but most geeks who watch and love scifi use a thing called TIVO, also known as DVR.

I thought he did very well in his portrayal as John's father. A third season for this show could prove to be really amazing. The dynamic of the show will change since no one seems to know who he is, and it's possible the Summer Glau we saw at the end of the finale was Allison, so it would be refreshing to see her get to play that character instead of Cameron.
The more I think about it, the more I want a third season.

Yes, I want to see much more of Jackson as Kyle. I've loved him since his days on General Hospital, and I know he can do great stuff if given the material. He makes a marvelous hero with "kind eyes."

I thought he was an inspired casting choice when he first appeared in the role. Completely believable as Kyle, and looks more like Michael Biehn did then (both jaw-droppingly gorgeous) than Lena Hedley looks like Linda Hamilton. Not that I have any problem with Lena--she's done an excellent job in a part that calls for a lot of internal conflict. Although I'd also like him to drop the scruffy "beard".
I really hope this show comes back in some form. Fox would be idiotic to kill it off with the new movie on the horizon. Plus, it's actually GOOD, with deep characterizations and a decent plot--something I never expected from a series that sounds like just another crash/smash/shoot-em-up action series. It got me to rent the DVDs of the first 2 movies, which I'd never really seen except in bits & pieces on TV.

I love TSCC but I never watch it live because I work nights so it's impossible. I DVR this show and BSG. I don't have to worry about when the stupid network messes with the time slot cuz the DVR is programmed to catch it whenever it's on. I usually watch it middle of the night when I get home any where from a day to week later. And oh yeah you better believe I FF those dumb commercials. I would actually PAY from 99cents to upto $1.99 to get future episodes of this show. I think given with the internet the network should propose this to the viewers. They can put out a roll-call of viewers and say OK how many want another season of TSCC? Then the viewers PRE-PAY for the season. if the network collects enough money then they go ahead and make the season..if not then the season gets canceled and all get our money back. 3.5 mil viewers times $1.99 is about 7 million per episode. Is Fox saying they can't make 1 episode for 7 mil??? Make that ishh PPV via your set top box and only the hard core fans can watch it. The rest of the morons can watch reality TV. And NO commercials other than movie releases - I don't need a new car and I don't need Viagra and I am not looking to clean my house if I am sitting watching TV. Put that isshh on during Martha Thugwart or HGTV.
