Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.Wings is really one of the more underrated sitcoms of all-time. It bopped along for eight seasons in various time slots and never got any real critical acclaim, but it was a very likable show, entertaining and with some really well-written characters. And now they've released it in a box set, which means I have to go out and buy it. That's happening more and more with shows nowadays: after the single seasons have been released, they come out with a complete set. This irritates some people who have bought the single season sets, but I'm not quite sure what fans expect.
- Cranford - Complete Miniseries (Blu-Ray)
- Death Note - Box Set, Vol. 2
- Exosquad - Season 1
- Knot's Landing - Season 2
- Malcolm & Eddie - Season 1
- The Mary Higgins Clark Collection - Murder, Mystery & Suspense
- Ruth Rendell Mysteries - Set 4
- Skins - Vol. 2
- Wings - Season 8 and Complete Series
- Wolverine and The X-Men - Season 1, Chapter 1 (Limited Edition)

I held off buying Wings until the complete set came out. I agree with you that it is such an underrated show that never got the respect it deserved.

I've always equated Wings with Murphy Brown. Both shows seemed to hang around forever and I could never understand why as both had some of the most annoying, unlikeable characters I've ever encountered.

Let me see if I can explain the irritation factor. A lot of studios base the continued release of series on how well the previous seasons have sold. Therefore, a lot of somebodies need to buy on a season-by-season basis to keep the series coming out.
However, once the entire series comes out, the studio is likely to release a full-series package which a) is sold at a much lower price point, b) includes bonus material unavailable in the season-by sets or c) both of the above. Now if you'd done your bit to keep the series coming out, wouldn't you consider that a bit of a slap?
Looks like nothing for me this week, at least from the new release list.
