Yup, tonight is the final ER. NBC will have an hour-long retrospective at 8 PM and then the two-hour season finale of the show at 9 PM (sorry, fans of My Name Is Earl, The Office, and 30 Rock). We've seen several old favorites come back this season in previous episodes, and we know that a couple more are coming back for tonight's last hurrah. Will George Clooney be one of them?Clooney already made an appearance on the show with Juliana Margulies a few weeks ago, and I liked the episode enough. It's just that there was a slight something missing from the episode, something concerning Doug and Carol and them not knowing that the kidney going to County General was for Carter.
As I said before, I thought that it would have been logical for Neela and Sam to tell Doug that a Dr. Carter was working at the hospital again, but instead the writers just had Doug and Carol know that the "doctor" got the kidney. I thought it would have been good if Doug and Carol knew that it was for Carter instead of ending their appearance with them thinking that hardly anyone they worked with still works at County General and they'll just live their lives in Seattle oblivious to what happened.
Now there are rumblings that Clooney might appear in the series finale after all. An NBC spokesperson "couldn't confirm" Clooney's appearance, which is an odd way of putting it. Could there be another twist where he shows up at County after all? I've noticed that Margulies has been in the promos for this episode, and the scene they show her in isn't a scene from the episode a few weeks ago, so maybe she's in it. And if she's in it ... well, I guess we'll just have to wait until tonight.
It would certainly be a nice twist if he showed up again, even more surprising than his cameo several years back to wrap up his storyline with Margulies.

Carter received a kidney from the Seattle donor. The heart went to a different County General patient - the mom with the little girl named Lucy.

Um....Carter wasn't at County General. And Neela and Sam were bringing his kidney back as a favor to this other hospital that Carter was at. If you recall, this is the place where Benson is a surgeon, which we all know isn't County General! Which would be why they wouldn't have realized who it was for.....and they never said that Sam or Neela knew who the kidney was for, only where it was to go. NONE of them knew it was for Carter - would have been a cool story line if they had, but that's not how the writers wrote it, folks!

This reminds me of stories that came up after Clooney left. Every other episode people asked whether Doug might return. He never did. Then he showed up in the episode Carol left and people again thought he might show up in later episodes.
And here we go again. I was in serious doubt that he would show up this season at all and I honestly don't see the point but to be honest I'm really really crossing my fingers that he will sow up again tonight with all the other actors from former seasons and I really want Luca to show up too. And I want a montage of all those who are on the wall, including Lucy Knight and Gallant and all the others.
You know - like on 30 Rock when Liz and Jack talked about what they did and how they remembered it all just with a real montage ;-)

I think he will show up at the end, and apply for a job.

Carol's scene from the promos is from her final episode when she went to meet up with Doug in Seattle.
It would be terribly sweet if they both taped something for this episode. Just a little insert of them congratulating Carter over the phone or something.

I have the feelings as when I completed reading Gone With the Wind. As if a dear, dear, love left me. I want to cry but I am too numb, the truth, it has cut to the bone. Oh, oh, woe is me...what will I do on Thursdays @ 10pm September to May. Fiddle dee dee, I will think of that tomorrow at Tara.....
