Fox seems to think so. It has struck a deal with Mike Fleiss, the producer of The Bachelor, to produce a new dating show in which everyone will be more "average" looking. The show will be called More To Love. They claim it's an attempt to break the industry assumption that viewers only want to watch highly attractive people. It seems more like another attempt by reality television to use a certain type of people in exchange for some air time on a major network. But that's just me.
My big concern is that Fox is essentially taking advantage of the obesity problem in the United States. While I like the concept behind such shows as The Biggest Loser, this has the potential of being a case of freaks on display. On the other hand, if the people behave normally, it could give a good message to the public that being overweight, while not healthy, does not automatically make a person unattractive.

I'm with you.
Moreover, is this going to be nothing more than some pathetic show making fun of overweight people who are stupid enough to allow themselves to be put in this situation? Boring!
No wonder broadcast television is dying.

I agree Jason.
No!
Don't show us people who have fallen, show us people who succeed! That is the American Dream, now more than ever. That is what makes the Biggest Looser rate so high. It is not about fat people, it is about what we can do if we put our minds to it.

Why does only being overweight make one "average"??
There are plenty of "normal" weight people who are VERY unattractive despite falling within a certain size range.
ridiculous.

"Fat" (overweight) is now the average body shape in America, sadly enough.

I'm sure that the fat people will be treated with the same respect as the show Average Joe and that one with the women who wanted plastic surgery. No way would the producers exploit this theam at someone elses expense.

Let's just skip a couple of steps and go straight to torture and executions on live TV.

"Why don't real women -- the women who watch these shows, for the most part -- have a chance to find love too?"
Yup, they have no chance without the magic of TV.
If they want to prove that people are happy to watch "average looking" people on TV, then they should actually cast average looking actors more regularly.
Not that I'm suggesting they do that.

I know I am commenting on this too late to get any response back but I am so sick of these posts that are mainly if not all from men and their holier than thow rants about seeing God forbid "fat" people date. Yourself included Brad.
Am I correct to think then that everyone who posted on here has an amazing body? A perfect visual for TV? So perfect that they would have the right to bash anyone elses flaws?
The way you said "freaks on display" and "if they behave normally" makes me sick. Yes-sure-of course , fat people=freaks. And they would rarely if ever "behave normally". You are all pathetic beyond belief to say and agree with those statements. I would love to see how amazing you all must look to be so repulsed by anyone that may be "fat". Average may just be average as in shorter than the 5'10 models they have on the bachelor, and average hair styles. Or they may be...fat. Either way if you dont like it CHANGE THE CHANNEL!
Yes lets treat them like freaks. For they should live in the shadows and be only allowed out at night, and only if there are no "above average" people to see them and be repulsed.
You ALL repulse me with your arrogant, unbelievable expectations you have for women or people in general. I would just love to see what you look like, since you seem to be so repulsed at looking at an "average" person.
Yeah-quite the studs you must be-surfing a TV obsessed blog. That screams fabulosity!
You all make me sick!

Ummm.... wow r u people serious????? they talk about putting fat people on TV and all the fat people start defending thier "gland problems" and "I have a great personality" and "fat people are still people too".
I Agree fat people are people....lazy people who are depressed because they dont want to work for shti...
they dont want to better themselves and could care less about being fit because the world is mean and we have health problems...."feel sorry for us please"...... I was fat and I hated myself and my parents and blamed everyone for genetics but guess what, I got my a$$ off the couch and worked out....
So no WE as the American people are tired of seeing stories about normal people being glorified..... If fat people want to be on TV, taking acting classes and earn a role.... otherwise shut up and excercise
oh and FYI over half the cases of thyroid problems were caused by being over weight NOT the thyroid problem cause the weight..... Educate yourself

I'm so tired of heavyset people being ridiculed, teased, made fun of, etc...No one is perfect, and EVERYONE deserves to be loved and find love, no matter the flaws. If you don't wanna watch, change the channel!

Marcia, I've got to say kudos for going with your feeling & giving everyone what for, but honestly I didn't think they just meant they didn't want to see fat women. I think they just didn't want to see fat 'PEOPLE'.
And more precisely one of them didn't want to see the networks ridiculeing obese people to make a quick buck. I don't think they meant to imply 'all' fat people = freaks.
But you have to admitt that most of the time people who manage to make it onto a reality show most of them are going to be a few innings short of a softball game. They don't call it Reality TV-Everyone show up and behave. They kind of screen for peculiar people to keep the program spicey becuase NO ONE will tune in if everyone's a sweetheart.
Now some people are 'Obese-ophobic'. They don't give a shti about what sort of heart of gold they've got, how many degrees they hold, or if they've won a nobel prize and can give them a million dollars, they don't want a thing to do with Lardy-pants McFatass.
And there are MANY obese people who are ornery bastards who you say prayers for, and even offer to walk around the block with that are going to treat you like scum.
So lets not pretend that 'everyone' is out to get the Obese, or that ALL the Obese are Victims. (Although it does seem it's a sin to have a BMI over 30% this day & age).
Bigotry of any kind shouldn't be tolerated. Let's give the anorexics a piece of cake, the bulemics some pepto and lets walk up the block with an obese person and ignore people who just can't get a long.
Personally..I think the concept of this show is stupid becuase it's just 'Average Joe'..but now he's "Average Joe Size 38" I wish they'd stop making so many realith shows anyway. I don't usually watch them.
