Were you as shocked as I was that when the results of the American Idol Top 10 Motown performances were announced that the blonde with the tattoo on her arm was safe? Her enthusiastic, but lamentable, version of Stevie Wonder's "For Once in My Life" was a "train wreck" according to Randy Jackson (and he's rarely that critical), while Simon Cowell labeled her singing "atrocious." So, yes, I was stunned when she wasn't in the bottom three. By the way, I'm not being insulting by not calling her by her name, I'm just not sure what it is.
When she started the competition, she was Megan Corkrey. Then she was Megan Joy Corkrey. Then just in the last week or so, she's been Megan Joy. I think this week, her name tag might read pretty blonde with the Bjork fixation (yeah, she's a Bjork fan).
If she sticks with Megan Joy, she'll be forced to share Google search space with another Megan Joy, the porno star of Desperate Housewhores 7. Hmm...does she have a tattoo on her arm?
I don't think it's going to matter much longer, though, because if Megan -- M.J. -- gets through another round it'll be a minor miracle. She's not a Sanjaya, but she does seem to be overstaying her welcome, especially since there are quite a few stronger singers still raising their game (Adam, for one).
Here's a word of advice for Megan before the American Idol Top 10 tour, however. Settle on a name. If you don't want to use her ex-husband's last name Corkrey, make Megan Joy your official moniker if you can imagine it on marquees and CD covers and you like what you see.

She's just doing the same thing Mellencamp did back in the 80s (Cougar -> Cougar Mellencamp -> Mellencamp), just on an accelerated timetable.
The difference is Mellencamp went from his "fake" name to his real one, so he'd be taken seriously. Megan's going from real to fake. I'm not sure what that means.

You *are* being insulting since you could simply call her Megan instead of "the blonde with the tattoo on her arm".
The last sentence is a grammatical mess.

This whole article is a waste of time and a poorly written one at that. Written by one of those Adam-ophiles who can't seem to understand that there is more to being a good singer than just putting a costume on, wearing some makeup and singing in a falsetto. Most MUSICIANS I know (I know a lot, about 50% of my friends make a living as a musician) actually like her better than Adam because she's actually unique and authentic (Adam is not, he's very fake) and with so little experience she's clearly holding her own.
Compare her to Lil Rounds and Scott MacIntyre who have yet to put forward a decent performance and you will see why her unique talent is appreciate by some. She's had some issues, but she'd certainly put out a better and more unique album than Danny Gokey. That being said, American Idol is a show about second rate musicians getting first rate marketing. Idol has yet to produce a single legendary musician. The truly talented ones already make a living off their music and are not eligible to be on Idol.

Megan is a deadly combination: She is the VFTW (Vote For The Worst) candidate, and there are people out there who legitimately like her.
As bad as she is, it wouldn't surprise me if she made it another three or four weeks. Scott will surely go before her, and this week proved that Matt is vulnerable. She could even outlast Lil, who is putting together a string of bad performances, and Kris, who has a decent voice but is dreadfully boring.

P.S. I forgot about Anoop. She could outlast him too.

I agree. Lets face it, shes very nice to look at and when the gender of the contestant is male that seems to be all the ladies need to call in to keep them. Maybe a lot of guys have finally decided on the same strategy. It also explains a lot of the hate from other women.

Although I have hoped for her dismissal with each show I do think she could still knock one out of the park if she hits upon the right material. Her style is quirky but I think there might be a voice hidden in there if she finds something she doesn't have to force.

Sadly, I think she'll be around for awhile as she is this year's pick for the Vote For The Worst website.

I really like her voice at times, but not the weird fidgeting she does at the mike. It reminds me of Elaine's "dancing" on that classic Seinfeld ep. A few random kicks and she'd have it down perfect.

Season 7's Kristy Lee Cook + Carly Smithson's tatoo = Megan Joy [Corkrey]. She'll only last as far as they did and not get into the Top 5.

um... have you all missed how incredibly hot she is? plus she's quirky in a way that is admittedly annoying to some but many find endearing. on top of all of that, when she has the right song, her voice is very cool and unique. yeah... she's not going anywhere anytime soon. she won't win. (that'll be Danny.) but she DEFINITELY deserves to outlast at least 1/2 of the people on there.

I kind of like her voice, it's different. What I can't stand is the way she moves. She doesn't know how to dance or move at all. To me that's what looks horrible.

I would hate to be on American Idol and really be as bad as Megan was the last 2 weeks and have to go back stage with the other contestants when you know you should be going to your room and packing your crap. What could have possibly been going through Matt's head as he stood there in the bottom 2 after having a solid performance and knowing Megan had a horrible performance? Megan is "cute" but lets get real. I f she did not have all the tattoos and that she is divorced, I would think she was LDS, and they were holding phone-ins for her, but thats not it. I would consider going to the Idol concert this year but I could not bear to hear her sing.

I adore Megan, I've been kinda surprised at all the hate out there for her. I think she is an interesting singer and just an interesting person in general. I know she can't/won't win but I hope she goes far in the competition just so I can enjoy her style. Very Joss

I don't hate Megan. I just think she it totally without talent. Two weeks in a row she stood up there and looked like a parady on some sitcom. I was embarassed for her and then she was not in the bottom three. The only one who belonged there was Michael. I love him but he is not up to the talent of the others. Adam blows them all out of the water. I think Paula said, he is in a league above the rest. And that's an understatement.

People are only shocked by Megan's survival because they underestimate her appeal. Once she's gone, this season turns into snooze city outside of the two minutes per week Adam is on stage acting weird.

I dont hate Megan either, but I still think she has hung around longer than the quality of her performances warrent. Alexis was much better and so was Jorge. If people want to vote for her because she is attractive, that's their business, as for myself, I dont particularly enjoy watching pretty people sing and perform poorly.
While you have to admire Megan for having the guts to go out there on a stage as big as American Idol and sing with no previous experience, at the same time, it doesnt appear to me that she puts much thought or effort into her songs. If she does,it certainly doesnt show. And by effort, I dont mean she should go out there and gyrate and flail around, like Taylor Hicks. Just that her performances are so lifeless and lacking in energy and that she doesnt seem to really know how she wants to sing her songs, so it comes out lackadaisical.

Megan is my favorite other than Adam. She is interesting and yes, quirky. But that's what makes her fun to watch and I love her voice. It's different and fresh. All the others are very talented but boring. I would buy her cd today.
