(S18E06) They do this to us every season on Survivor -- the roughly mid-season clips show. Now, I'm not sure of the wisdom behind the whole thing. Perhaps it's to secure the jobs of the show's graphic artists so they can make new flashing "unseen before" logos. After all, in these tough economic times, those graphic artists need all the work they can get since their other main contribution is the seasonal logo. But that's actually not the reason they had the clips show this season. It was obviously to reinforce my opinion that Coach is a loon.
Yep, the Coach got plenty of airtime during this clips episode, and I'm definitely not liking him even more. I hadn't thought that would be possible.
- The Little Lord Fauntleroy shorts and high socks can go. He has jeans. They were on the clips show. He must be trying to make a fashion statement.
- He was condescending to Sierra, then claimed he wasn't condescending. I can only hope she didn't really buy it.
- He's the joke of the tribe, although in the beginning they all thought he reminded them of Steven Seagal.
- He's no Steven Seagal -- he's skinny and wears a combination mullet-high ponytail. He's more like Silly Seagal, Steven's lesser known third cousin twice removed.
- He tried to conduct a classical piece. I like classical music, but he shouldn't do that again. Not in public, anyway.
- Brendan and Tyson are both right -- they don't need a coach there.
- Tyson is weird and surely an annoying alpha-male, but he doesn't make me snarl when I see him.
- Erinn had the best line of the night when she referred to Coach as a "jackass." Now I feel bad that she's a target to be voted out. Obviously she has potential and good taste.
Aside from the Coach misfit bits, we got more of a peek into the Exile Island trip with Brendon and Stephen. Oh my. They spooned. No wonder they seemed to come away with that bonding thing going on! While I dislike Coach more after the show, I think I'm respecting Stephen and his own game a lot more. He burns no bridges. While he has a strong bond with JT and now Brendan, he really trusts neither. He could be a dark horse.
Taj showed a bit of a different side in some of the previously unseen clips. She cried over bug bites. Here I thought she was a very strong woman and she's bawling her eyes out about how she looks with bug bites. Me? I'd be more worried about how I looked on TV in a bathing suit. But that's me.

Um, you posted that you feel bad for Erinn now that she's been voted out. You're either posting spoilers, or you mixed up the names with someone else, because Erinn hasn't been voted out yet. I didn't watch the clip show, so I'm not sure which.
Carolina, Candace, Jerry, Sandy, and Spencer are all that's been booted to this point.

Just watched the clip, no, you didn't mix up the names. I'm guessing you just assumed she's been voted off based on the comments?

No mix up except I meant to say she's a target to be voted off. No spoilers, just my mind. I hate when March Madness means missed shows! I fixed it.

You made this clip-show funnier than it was in itself. Nice work :-)
Coach will be voted off soon I'm sure of that. He's just a phony and people will notice. He's no final four material.

Coach. Any person that makes Steven Seagal look good by comparison is a serious tool.

I don't mind the clip shows, I just hated the way they promoted it. Jeff P. in all those ads explaining that due to basketball there was a new episode of Survivor on Wed, why can't he just say it was a clip show, I tuned in expecting a new episode, and I felt cheated.

His name is Benjamin. Maybe we should call him Benji?

I don't like the clip shows. I want the real thing! I agree with all the comments on Coach and I swear I heard somewhere in the past few weeks that he had been fired from whatever university/school he worked for. Something about he asked off for a week or so and was gone 3 months? He's just plain weird.

I usually like the clips shows better than most other viewers (though I'd still rather have a regular show), but this one just plain sucked! Way too much Coach, everything about him is just pointless. And Tyson isn't much better. Also, I'd have to be damn near freeezing before I'd "spoon" with another guy. They're in the tropics, how cold can it be?

You know every reality show has someone I call the stink stirrer! This time it's Coach! It keeps the energy going and keeps everyone hopping! I'll admit he's not my favorite but when he's gone it's will be just a regular dull show!
