Am I crazy, or is this the first time they've ever done this for Lost?!? Nine episodes into the show's fifth season and ABC has released an updated cast photo. The only cast member killed off so far this season is Rebecca Mader's Charlotte (she finally succumbed to time-travelitis four episodes back in "This Place is Death") and as such, she's the only one omitted from the new photo while Daniel Dae Kim, who was MIA at the beginning of the season, has been added. I'm as big a Lost fanatic as the next guy and I love new stuff like this to analyze the hell out of, but was this really necessary?
Yes, I realize everyone pictured above, save for Desmond, is back on the island and the cityscape from the original pic doesn't really apply any more, but still... what's the significance of creating a new photo when only one very minor character has died? If Jack had died in the Ajira 316 crash - OK, then I'd feel good about a new photo. His death would justify it. Charlotte's doesn't. I don't think Jin's reappearance does either.
Which makes me wonder if there's something special about this new photo. The original photo had lots of little things to pick up on (all the DHARMA trash, Faraday's missing left foot) but I'm not seeing too much in the new one. Faraday has his foot back, there's still some trash, and Ben is sitting on a bed. Nothing really jumps out at me.

I think in Season 3 later on they added Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet) to the cast photo and to the DVD box-cover poster. She wasn't in the original. Possibly Michael Emerson (Ben) too but I'm not as sure about him

They did it in Season Two, the original picture had Anna-Lucia, and the second one added Libby and Mr. Eko.
As well for Season Three, when the original picture had Mr. Eko, and the updated photo added Juliet, and removed Mr. Eko.

Just realized what they are doing releasing these, DC comics did the similar setup with their 52 or Countdown year long mini-series if I'm thinking right. Showed the major players in positions with certain little changes or easter eggs to tell their fate at the end. Based on the position of the characters in relation to each other, the type of ground they were on etc.. little things like that.

10 seasons in and they've lost maybe two or three of the original cast members. Sad. Hate when writers don't have the guts to remove characters.

This looks like a fan-made poster or something. The cast pictures are old and simply fotoshopped in a cool background. It doesn't look like an official Lost promo poster at all.

They released updated cast-pictures all the time. There were two versions of the season 2 cast-pictures for example. The first batch was with Maggie Grace in it, but later she was removed and the new characters (Mr. Eko and Libby) were photoshoped into the pictures. (i.e.: Everyone standing in the water and the other picture with the whole cast on a rock. Maggie Grace was originally in these pictures.) In season three, the pictures didn't feature Juliet, later on, she was added. And finally, there was season four. There are cast-pictures with and without Harold Perrineau (Michael).
