Don't give up on that Jericho movie just yet; the producers haven't

JerichoYes, there are plans to move forward with that comic adaptation of CBS's post-apocalyptic series Jericho. But that doesn't mean that the proposed movie is dead in the water. Of course, it doesn't sound like it's exactly moving forward either. Co-executive producer of Jericho Dan Shotz said things like "we've been developing a feature to hopefully make" and how they'd like to "hopefully get that launched" in his interview with Sci Fi Wire.

So it looks like they're hoping the comic will keep the momentum alive and help them get this move greenlit. Maybe they don't realize that the best-selling comic book each month barely breaks 100,000 copies sold unless there's a major event (like Barack Obama appearing on the cover of The Amazing Spider-Man). Still, anything that will keep the story alive is better than nothing. I can't help but think, though, that jumping into the comic deal is an indication that the proposed movie adaptation of Jericho wasn't going well.

In fact, the article barely touched on the feature film at all, instead going on and on about "Season Three" in comic book form. They've got show writers on board and the producers on board so it should feel authentic enough and that does mean the right team is assembled for the movie as well. But I can't help and think that this article was more a plea to whoever needs to hear it so the film project can advance, rather than any sort of definitive statement that the film is in a good position and moving forward as it needs to.
