(S05E17) "If he ever lost you, it would destroy him." - Dave to Katherine about MikeDave's storyline wasn't the main attraction this week, but it's still the storyline that interests me the most. Dave's plan hit a speed bump while Edie learned more about who her husband really is.
The other storylines were entertaining but not new, since Gaby once again tricked people to get what she wanted, Bree tried to keep appearances up while Susan ended up in a sticky situation.
Dave/Edie/Mike/Katherine
Once again this week, Dave showed us how great he is at manipulating people. No wonder he is a motivational speaker since he can have people pretty much buy anything he says. This time, Katherine was the one being manipulated since she had decided to do her taxes instead of going camping. Dave skillfully told her how he wanted to know her since she is part of Mike's life and the main reason why Mike -- Dave's friend -- is now happy. How could Katherine say no to camping after such a speech? I would have probably accepted if I were in her shoes and without the viewer knowledge I have that Dave plans to kill her.
Edie learned more tidbits about her husband. She is good at questioning people, but even if Dave said that he doesn't want kids because a "friend" had a daughter who died, Edie doesn't have the needed proof that Dave is up to no good. Right now, it could look as if Dave is lying to her because the deaths of his first wife and daughter are too painful. Sadly, the info she needs to link everything together -- the article about Mike not being charged for the deaths -- may arrive too late. Plus when she'll get the article, will Edie be quick enough to connect the dots, rush to the camping ground, and stop Dave before Katherine -- and maybe Mike -- bite the dust? How do you think this storyline will turn out? Share your theories in comments below.
Susan/Jessie
Wasn't it about time we see Susan at her new workplace? She seemed to be doing well as a teacher. Of course, something "funny" had to happen either at school or with a coworker. The "funny" was triggered by a student who let Susan know that she was being evaluated this week. In the hopes of keeping her job, Susan invited her superior to her house for dinner. The evening was pretty much predictable, but fun to watch unfold since Pushing Daisies' Swoosie Kurtz is playing Jessie.
It was fun to see some of the housewives and Lee discuss the "lesbian" problem while playing poker. There needs to be more poker scenes in Desperate Housewives episodes since that's when we see most, if not all, the housewives interacting and gossiping. Anyway, back to the topic. Susan decided to let Jessie know that she wasn't a lesbian. Of course, Jessie tested the waters (or the animals) to ensure that Susan really wasn't a lesbian, which provided another somewhat funny yet awkward moment. As is the case for most of Susan's awkward storylines, things ended well and Susan showed that she can act like an adult. Again this week, I must ask, why can't Susan act like an adult from the getgo? Why does it always have to be after she did various stupid things?
Gaby/Carlos/Lucy/Lynette
Wondering where you saw Lucy before? The actress is Leslie Boone and you saw her on Ed, the series in which she played Carol's best friend Molly. It was refreshing to see her on screen and have Carlos admit that looks aren't the only thing that can attract a guy to a woman. I hope we see more of Lucy as the character seems to be fun and driven. Plus, her presence will offer us fresh background on Carlos.
What I didn't like about this storyline is the fact that Gaby was her old selfish self from start to finish: she said yes to Carlos' promotion; she wasn't happy with Carlos hiring Lucy until she saw that Lucy didn't look like a model; and when she learned that Carlos liked Lucy because of her qualities and her personality, Gaby decided to get Lynette hired so she would have a spy in the company. I miss soccer mom Gaby. At least Carlos still has a heart, even if he is back in a job that is similar to what he had in Season One.
Personally, I hope Lynette has nothing to report to Gaby. It would be refreshing to see two ex-lovers be able to work alongside each other without hitting the sheets. Having ex-lovers hook up while at work is over done in shows, so seeing the opposite would be a nice change; plus, it would show Gaby that Carlos can be trusted.
Bree/Orson
Orson's problem goes deeper than we first thought. He doesn't only steal to get back at people or because of the thrill it gives him, Orson steals because it's something Bree can't control. These two definitely need couple's therapy as first suggested by the psychiatrist. I wonder what it will take to convince Bree that they're in danger and that both she and Orson need to work things out. Did she find the earring he stole from her? If not, than maybe finding the earring will be the needed trigger to show her that she is part of the problem, too. Do you want Bree and Orson to patch things up, or is it time to break them up and find Bree a new lover?
Next week is camping week! Will Dave be able to go through with his plan and kill Katherine? Will he kill Mike at the same time? Will Edie receive the fax in time to jump in her car and stop everything? Questions I can't wait to get answers to. And you?

No, I do not want Bree to dump Orson. Not that I like him, but Bree almost has gone through as much men as Susan has. So, it's time she learned to deal with them.

As far as who may or may not die... I saw the guys from DH on The View (it was on @ 2am... weird!) and they pretty much give it up... but I won't spoil it!
As for Orson-Bree, I really want to see Orson kept around, he is the most consistent form of male humour these days.
Where was Tom this week?

The housewife who dies this season has been so spoiled on every website (of course for those lucky few who don't know I wont spoil). It really takes away a lot of the BIG MYSTERY suspense. The should have kept that a better secret.

Duh, Unless you live under a rock and do not read anything online, watch any TV, or read any magazines (or even your local paper) EVERYONE should already know who dies. I mean even this blog was talking about who is not coming back.
Plus the kissing scene was way over rated. No big deal.
I loved the show today though. But as others had said, the suspense is totallly ruined for me since its been out for weeks.

Am I the only one who noticed William Schallert (aka Patty Duke's TV dad) playing the old guy who ran the copy shop? He'll be 87 this year, and it's nice to see him active in the 21st century. Somebody ( AARP, maybe?)should give Marc Cherry a citation for putting seniors to work.

The episode was about hidden agendas, so, I'm not sure how Gaby got singled out for it in your review. Lynette had her own agenda in that storyline, lest you forget.
I hated frumpy Gaby ['soccer mom', please. As if those kids ever ran]. She's hot again--as is Carlos--and they are now back on par with the rest of the cast. THis VP will be interesting.
I wish they [DH writers] could write it so that Orson was vindicated and he was back on par with Bree. They were the power couple last season. Now, they are a mess. I hope they get it back.
Katherine, Edie, Mike, Dave...I really don't care who dies on the B team. My vote's for a forest fire that takes all of them out...THEY AREN'T THE STARS FOLKS!!!

It was nice to see a "real" woman on the show (Leslie Boone as Lucy), rather than yet another too-skinny twig-like woman...and cheers to Carlos for proving that he's nowhere near as shallow as Gaby! More Lucy please!
