I really wanted to like this since I absolutely fucking HATE George Dubya Bush. But I just didn't find it funny. I laughed maybe three or four times... and not desperately trying to catch my breath laughing, either. I also never liked Will Ferrell's Bush impression. He doesn't look like him and he doesn't have the voice or mannerisms down at all. I thought Josh Brolin was a horrible choice to play Bush in Oliver Stone's movie "W." but Brolin absolutely nailed it.... Will Ferrell should have studied how Brolin does it. People who claim Ferrell's Bush is "terrific" need to see Josh Brolin in "W." ... they'll never compliment Ferrell again, as his impression is third rate, at best.

I wanted to like this, and it could have been hilarious. But it just fell flat and after 20 minutes I wanted it to be over. Of course, if you're going to be reminding me of GWB, you better be freakin' hilarious to overcome my autonomous response of bitterness and anger towards this idiot who singlehandedly destroyed America and its economy. After McCain lost, Bush spent his last 3 months in office doing a slash and burn on the economy so that Obama would come in facing a dreadful collapse timed to turn into a depression after he was sworn in on January 20th... so the Republicans could say the depression is "Obama's fault."

I mean, these Republicans are people who can only benefit from terrorist attacks, financial collapse, mass destruction, war and famine. Seriously, those are the only things that can put them back in power, much like how 9-11 - a terrorist attack that took place on the Republican's watch yet they never accepted any responsibility for it - was used by them to usurp power. The last thing the Republicans want is a solid economy, a lack of terrorism, and relative peace. They'd be screwed.

That show was hilarious. The part about training monkies to fight in Iraq was just amazing, as was the entire show.

TL: I'm not a member of the "hard left" ... in fact I voted for Bush in 2000. You have to be either mentally retarded or a Christian (which is a form of mental retardation in and of itself) to have seen Bush in action for 4 years and vote to give him a second term. Likewise, after 8 years of Bush destruction, it takes a very special kind of mental retardation to vote republican.

The modern "Republican Party" has nothing in common with the GOP of the 20th century. I like to call myself a "Goldwater liberal." Barry Goldwater, a/k/a "Mr. Conservative" is so far to the left of Dennis Kucinich that if he ran for office today, Goldwater would be run out of the country by the most liberal of Democrats with chants of "COMMIE!" and "PINKO!" and "LENIN!"

Barry "Mr. Conservative" Goldwater is to the left of Obama on every single issue. And Goldwater was seen as an extreme right-wing nutjob back when he was running for president. John McCain has completely disgraced Goldwater's seat in the Senate - where a great man used to sit now festerss a hot, steamy, turd.

But idiots like you, who are so blinded by ideology and too dumb to think for yourself, that you'll vote "Republican" no matter what the party stands for.

But the worst are the whores who vote republican for no other reason than they want tax cuts. They're the same type of people who voted for Hitler back in 1930s Germany. Some things are more important than lower taxes... plus, what good are lower taxes if the economy is in complete disarray and the value of the dollar is dropping by the minute?

Meanwhile, if you really love America, if you really get off on wearing that American flag pin on your lapel, if you really think America can do no wrong, if you really think America is the greatest country in the world and the beacon of freedom and liberty and democracy and happiness for all humanity, you should LOVE paying your federal income taxes! April 15th should be your favorite day of the year. You should smile as you write your check to Uncle Sam, and you should include an extra 15% "Freedom Tithing" just because you have the privilege of doing so. Paying LESS taxes to fund the greatest country in the world should be the last thing on your mind if you are, in fact, a "real" American.

You can't love something and want to stiff it at the same time. Why is there a direct correlation between the unquestioning love Republicans claim they have for America and their insistence on paying less taxes to America? People who are to greedy to share their wealth with America clearly hate America. They also hate freedom and democracy, otherwise they'd do everything they could to fund it with as much of their money as possible. Republicans should be begging to have tax rates at 80% or higher... if they really love America the way they claim they do. It should be an HONOR to pay 80% of your hard earned money to the greatest country, under God, to ensure liberty and justice for all. The Rush Limbaughs of the world should be paying ALL their money in taxes - they should take a vow of poverty and, with a huge freedom-smile, give all of their money to the U.S. Treasury - what is more patriotic than paying a 100% tax rate? Is there any greater way to show you love America? Anyone can wear a ten-cent american flag lapel pin. But only a true patriot, only a truly great American hero would volunteer 100% of his earnings to give back to God's country.

But no, Republicans bitch about being overtaxed and accuse the Democrats of hating America. Assholes. Freedom of speech does not include the freedom to be a hypocrite. The First Amendment does not go that far. Nor should it.

It was okay / hit and miss. The NY Times review was spot on - this was Will Ferrell being Will Ferrell. The opening prayer was straight out of Talladega Nights. The only funny parts were completely over the top and more about exaggeration than satire (which is why sketch comedy is rarely successful if longer than 5 minutes). The monkey bit, however, was absolutely hilarious.
