There's a reason why when you watch The Mentalist, there are always subtle close ups of Simon Baker's eyes or of his mouth when he's talking. The producers know he's hot and they know women are watching. Between him, the cast of Friday Night Lights, and a whole other list of DILF's, there's a lot of male eye-candy on TV right now. But what about the women? Of course television is filled with hot chicks, but who do other women like to watch? There are certain female characters who, when you watch them, you just want to hang out with. Either you think she'd be a good friend, or exciting to have around, or maybe you just kind of want to be her. This, my friends, is a Girl Crush. Here is my list of Top Ten TV Girl Crushes.
10. Tabitha Wilson (Jessica Walter), 90210On this show about popular Beverly Hills teens, the grandmother is the only character I would actually want to hang out with. Tabitha is the grandma everyone wishes they had. Boozy and brash, everything that comes out of her mouth is hilarious because she's lived a while and simply does not give a damn what people think of her anymore. Plus, you have the extra bonus of getting to hear all of her scandalous old Hollywood stories.
9. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), Law & Order: SVUHave you ever been at a bar and some slimy guy starts hitting on you, and even though you're trying to politely decline his advances, he just does not get the hint? It's completely annoying and can ruin a fun night out. Now imagine that you have Olivia Benson with you--see how all of your problems just disappeared? Liv does not suffer fools gladly and can kick some major ass. Night out: saved.
8. Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), Gossip GirlWhy would you want to be friends with Blair? Well, you certainly wouldn't want to be her enemy. As conniving and sometimes evil as Ms. Waldorf can be, you kind of have to admire her chutzpah. Plus, she's super good at getting what she wants and will do anything for her friends. As long as you're cool with blackmail, you're all set.
7. Brenda Lee Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick), The CloserIt's not easy for a woman to be taken seriously as a police officer, especially when you're a high-ranking one in the LAPD, and especially not when you sound like Scarlett O'Hara. Brenda Lee Johnson, however, has earned the respect of her mostly male colleagues simply by being the best at her job. Plus, she has a junk food drawer, so she totally won't judge you when you're really craving a Twinkie.
6. Samantha Newly (Christina Applegate), Samantha Who?Who hasn't wanted to completely reinvent herself? Of course, most of us would probably prefer to do it without sustaining a massive head injury, but hey: it didn't end so badly. Samantha gets to be the person she always (since regaining consciousness) has wanted to be. She stumbles, she falls, but she always picks herself back up and keeps on going.
5. Olive Snook (Kristin Chenoweth), Pushing Daisies24-hour access to pie. Done. Well, okay. Also, she's cute as a button and way more fun than the mopey dead girl. Plus, Olive Snook is the only person in the world who can randomly burst into song and not be completely annoying-- and that is impressive. Hell, I don't even like musicals, but I still wish that was a skill I possessed.
4. Kelly Kapoor (Mindy Kaling), The OfficeOh, stop being stuck up. You know that Kelly is awesome. I mean, she is Kelly Fierce, for Pete's sake. I heartily believe that we all have a little Kelly Kapoor in us, so you've got to admire the girl for letting it all hang out there. If nothing else, she would be endlessly entertaining, and who doesn't want to hang out with someone who says what they would never dare.
3. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), Grey's AnatomyIn a hospital in which a doctor can't seem to get through a single shift without having sex with somebody, Miranda Bailey is a welcome antidote. She kicks ass at her job and doesn't let everyone else's high school antics distract her, which I'm sure plays no small part in why the Chief wants to groom her as his replacement so badly.
2. Pam Beasley (Jenna Fisher), The OfficeYou've gotta love Pam Beasley. Sure, she started off as a mousy pushover, but she's blossomed into a brave woman who isn't afraid to go out and get what she wants. She's sassy and funny, while still managing to be a sweetheart. Plus, her joke about Michael's thing being so small that if it was an iPod, it would be a shuffle? Priceless.
1. Liz Lemon (Tina Fey), 30 Rock Who isn't completely and utterly in love with Liz Lemon? She has become the icon for what most women I know aspire to be: smart, funny, with an amazing job. Sure her personal life is in shambles, but whose isn't? Plus, she eats unidentifiable snack food found in bodegas, and that's something with which I can relate all too well.

I was sold on Olive when she got Emerson, Ned, and herself patterned, almost matching raincoats. I would be friends with her just to get a cool patterened raincoat.
I have a girl crush on the women of Lost, for sure, and on a minor scale, I do admire Fi from Burn Notice since she likes to blow stuff up.

Kelly? Come on! And, while I love to watch Brenda Lee work, I just don't see her being a very generous friend.
Liz Lemon, yes, for sure
Juliet on Lost
Sky on Breaking Bad (and she NEEDS a friend)
Tami Taylor on Friday Night Lights
Dani Reese on Life
Definitely Allison on Medium

So glad to see Olivia Benson on your list... I think she'd be awesome to hang out with! Of course, I'd vote her number one on the list. We could sit down, have dinner, and get the low down on what she really thinks (or feels!) about Elliot Stabler!

I like Brenda Leigh Johnson on The Closer, but what about Allison Dubois. She's a totally cool mom, and she's a knockout to boot. And she seems like a real person, and not some made-up TV character. She should be at the top of the list.

Gina Torres -- she's a superb actress and just really nice to watch while she's acting.
Amanda Tapping -- good sense of humor, witty, and also a superb actress.
Kyra Sedgewick is a hoot. I love Holly Hunter, but I can't stand the character she's playing in Grace.
