It seems Jeffrey Ross already has the line of the night for Sunday's Roast of Larry the Cable Guy (Comedy Central, 10 PM), which isn't surprising, because he's a longtime Friars Club member. In the trailer, Ross slams, "This is ridiculous, he's not even a real person! Why don't we just roast Dora the Explorer or Popeye the Sailor Man?" Fictional character he may be, Mr. The Cable Guy has attracted Jeff Foxworthy, Warren Sapp, Toby Keith, Gary Busey, Maureen McCormick, fellow comic Reno Collier, and Roast regulars like Ross, Greg Giraldo, and Nick DiPaolo. "Queen of Mean" Lisa Lampanelli will serve as the first female Roastmaster for the Comedy Central series (the Friars, originators of the roast, have only had a couple of female Roastmasters -- Susie Essman did the Smothers Brothers and Joy Behar did Danny Aiello).
Comedy Central has gone over the top marketing the Roast. If you're a fan, you can go to the Comedy Central site to see clips or play Cable Guy-related games, including dressing him, driving his truck, and shaking the "Magic 6-Pack" to get refried witticisms.
Here are a couple of those clips. And be forewarned, they are uncensored, and generally NSFW.

I love the CC roasts, but this one is a new low. Would no respectable entertainer agree to this? Also, why is CC obsessed with "Blue collar" comedy? I'm blue collar and I think most of it is not funny (Ron White the exception) and obvious punchlines. Just my opinion.

the promo seemed pretty unfunny, it's the same old stuff with the same old comedians that only crawled out for the CC roast, which has been having some pretty pathetic roastees lately.

Isn't the point of a roast to honor someone who has had a long and distinguished career full of accomplishments?
Larry the Cable Guy? Jesus Christ.... talk about lowest possible standards. Who's next, the Geico caveman? I couldn't imagine it getting worse than Bob Sagat, but I was wrong.

why do so many people feel the need to bash blue collar comedy? just because their jokes are cleaner than most and the average american can actually relate to them, everyone finds them so incredably dull and talentless...? i would much rather watch them than many other comics out there today. i guess that comedians need to be vulgar and foul-mouthed to be considered funny these days. i guess that i must be just another stoopid rednek two.
