The pilot casting is coming fast and furious now. Chris Parnell has been cast in the new CBS comedy Big D. He'll play a preacher who is the brother of a woman who moves back to her hometown of Dallas with her husband. Hopefully this doesn't mean that Parnell won't be able to reprise his role of Dr. Spaceman on NBC's 30 Rock. Too much Dr. Spaceman could be too much, but it's really great to see him every once in a while.
More pilot news after the jump...
Jeremy Northam will play a doctor on CBS' Miami Trauma. It's produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, so unlike ER, there won't be one helicopter crashing into the hospital, there will be seven, and all of them will have bombs on board; CBS' The Eastmans is a drama about autism and will star Saffron Burrows and Jesse Bradford; and Juliana Margulies is going to try to be an attorney again (after last season's Canterbury's Law) in The Good Wife. I think it would be great if she played the same character that she played on the other show. I don't think anyone would know the difference.
No guarantee that all of these shows will make it to the CBS schedule in the fall, of course.

Come on, Bob! Don't tease us with misleading headlines. Parnsy is getting a show, not Dr. Spaceman.
It's good news either way, but still ...

Please, God, no more doctor shows. Could someone please think of something original for a change?

I agree. How about one set on a college campus; e.g. faculty vs admin staff, academians placed into upper admin positions, students admitted with false credentials who are really militant terrorists, the varsity athletics vs recruiting ethics violations...the twists and turns yield potentially entertaining drama every day in real life
