30 Rock: Goodbye, My Friend

30 Rock(S03E13) "Donuts and then bed. What are you depressed about or celebrating?" - Pete, to Liz

Holy crap, Josh was in this episode! Sure, he only had one line and wasn't on screen for too long, but Josh was in this episode! It's good to see that he's still a writer on this show (and that Lonny Ross is still a member of the cast).

It's also good to see a TV show whose plot is based around the 1987 film Harry and the Hendersons. There aren't enough TV shows based on the 1987 film Harry and the Hendersons.

I like how it's often hard to figure out the theme/joke of a 30 Rock episode. I didn't know what the title of this episode even meant until almost the end of this episode, and the only reason I knew John Lithgow was going to walk into the NBC studios at some point was because I saw a picture of him at one of NBC's sites. I kinda wish I hadn't known that, because it completed the Harry and the Hendersons joke perfectly (and that officially is the most times I have ever typed the phrase Harry and the Hendersons in one place at one time).

Liz was kinda creepy in this episode, wasn't she? Manipulating a teenage girl so she can get the girl's baby? But it was very funny all around and that's all that matters, morals be damned. I wonder if this episode is out of order. You would think that Liz might ease up on the adopting a baby obsession since she's still dating Drew.

I thought Judah Friedlander was completely unrecognizable with the slicked back hair and nice suit. If Frank ever has to go on the run and hide out at some point (and he probably will), they'll never find him.

This is also one of the few times I've truly felt sorry for Jenna. Come on, guys, having Kenneth and the gang focus completely on Tracy's birthday and pretty much ignore Jenna was a little too much to take. I would have told them to go to hell (though it was nice that Tracy was the one to solve things at the end).

Quotes (I hope I got all the good ones, there were so many...):

"My heart goes out to all of the inner-city kids, especially those that are too fat to dance their way out." - Jenna

"This morning it hit me in the shower why the Hendersons named him Harry. That film has layers." - Jack

"You have shut up mouth." - Liz, after Pete said she had "crazy eyes"

"You are officially a d-bag, Tim! I hope you lose your indoor soccer game!" - pregnant Becca

"The last time I saw my dad, he went to get the candles for my fourth birthday lasagna and never came back." - Frank

"I don't want to go to Lutz's. His contract is up, and I don't want to feel sorry for him." - Jack

"Meanwhile, his My Space page still says 'Status: Horny.' And I'm like, at least have the decency to Skype me face to face." - Becca

"There are just so many different devices for guys to not call you on now. When I was your age, you could just be 'oh, he probably tried to call me and my line was busy, so you could just watch Falcon Crest and cry yourself to sleep." - Liz

"I don't have a birth certificate because I was born inside of Yankee Stadium." - Tracy

"Even prisoners have birthday parties. I saw one once on Oz and it was...interesting." - Kenneth

"It's a thing! The CW has them." - Liz, on Becca's job as a youth consultant

"He's coming! The plan is working! I bit my tongue!" - Kenneth

"We've narrowed it down to, own a Robo-Cop, hunt that elephant who paints, or breakfast in bed." - Kenneth, on what Tracy's wishes could be

"You're all so amazing. And to think I was just calling you a bunch of racists." - Tracy, to the cast and crew

"I also would have accepted 'you can't prove that's the Governor's semen." - Jack, on the the seven most important words in the legal system

"And now we are joined by a cobweb of rainbows..." - line from Becca's song

"Being terrible has never prevented success in the music business. Look at Biz Markie or The Doors." - Liz
