Really? Ausiello seems to think so, but I have my doubts. I can see how he might think that to be true when he says Carter Bays told him the central mystery of the show is going to be (sort-of) resolved. However, I noticed that Ausiello didn't quote Bays here. Now, what he did quote Bays as saying is:
"At the end of the season, we will address the title of our show," reveals Bays, adding that the last four episodes will feature "big events in the lives of our characters -- specifically Ted (Josh Radnor). We're going to wrap up some things that have been left dangling."
Just because they will address how Ted meets the mother still doesn't mean that we'll know her identity. Where are they going to take the show if that happens? I don't want to watch a HIMYM that's about the gang and Ted dating. Oh wait. I already watch that, don't I? Well, as they say, the fun is in the chase, and if the chase is ended, HIMYM might lose some of its zing.
What do you think? Are we going to find out the identity of the mother? And will it ruin the show if we do?

No, in fact it isn't, since no one really knows anything anyway! ;-)

I still think the goat is the mother.
(ok, maybe not)
But I'm expecting that episode to be great. They've been talking about it since the end of Season 1, and this season really needs a great episode for a change...

I think your right (if it is true) that Ted will "meet" the mother but the audience will not see her. It will her from the back- in a big hat or umbrella or hidden by a crowd.

If this turns out to be true, then I wonder how the audience will know it's the mother. Will it be the fact that we can't see her, but we see that Ted sees a woman off-screen?

I'm assume HIMYM is coming back next season so the mother probably won't be reveal just yet. I think the revealation of the mother will probably come towards the end of the season.

I have a feeling that it will be Barney/Robin if last night's episode was any indication. Robin is stuck in her job and having little boys flirt with her. Barney has a great job, but wants a real love life. They will definitely be together by the end of the season.
Of course, that may cause some problems with Ted. He really will be the odd man out. Won't it be ironic that the one guy craving a long term relationship (Ted) is the only single one? Meanwhile the legendary lifelong bachelor himself (Barney) gets the girl. Ted's going to have to step up his game and really seek out the mother.

I hope I'm not the only one who wants it to be Robin, IMO they just worked so well together.. I love Sarah Chalke, but I hated her character on the show because it felt forced.. Ted needs to get back with Robin for good, please don't let Barney get with her.. If the show does it I think it will remind me of how odd That 70's Show turned for the worse at the end of it's run with certain characters "hooking up" with each other that never should have never been together to begin with..

Drex, there is simply no way that Ted and Robin are going to end up together. There have been show after show where "Future Ted" has referred to her as "Aunt Robin" during his narration about this time period to his kids. As a matter of fact, all four of his buddies are either Aunt or Uncle to the kiddos so we know for sure they are all still in Ted's life and NOT married to him.
Sorry to have to point out the obvious...

We already know its not Robin because she's always refered to as Aunt Robin.

While I do realize this, I think that their two characters work well together and they had it right the first time when they were together.. I can totally hear Bob Saget saying a cheesy line like, ".. and that's how your aunt Robin became your mother.."

Which wouldn't really work unless the goat really is the kids mother and they are mentally retarded. It takes the whole believability away if the whole time the kids don't realize that Robin is their mother for the last 4 years! And the show is how I met your mother, and the story started out telling the kids this is the story of "how I met your mother" not "how I met your aunt who ended up becoming your mother". And yes Robin and Ted work out great, but not really as a couple, more as friends. There is a reason they aren't together anymore, and Robin and Barney work out so much better together...

Spoiler alert!
Ted is really a pervy pedophile. Once either Corbie or Allyson have their baby, Ted goes to hold one of them and proclaims, "and that kids, is how I met your mother!"

Going back to "Robin as the mother" theory. Is it possible that Robin is their stepmother, whom they call Aunt Robin? She never did want kids of her own... lol
nahhhhhhhhhh

I don't think they will do that, they've been setting up the whole Barney and Robin thing for a while now, and Ted said he stay away.

Personally, I wonder if Ted could be "Uncle Ted" to those kids, and actually be telling them about how he met their mother. I don't recall either one of them ever calling him Dad, and he just refers to them as "kids". It's a stretch, but it would be the kind of twist a TV show would use.

For one example, I remember the daughter putting her head in her hands and saying "Oh, Dad!" at the beginning of the second episode when they re-addressed Ted's "I love you" slip to Robin.
