I've been a fan of Melissa George since I first saw her in 2001's short-lived Thieves. I was, quite possibly, the only person in the known universe who actually loved that show. She starred with John Stamos as lovers and professional thieves who worked a deal with the FBI. I guess I have a soft spot for anything that even resembles the 1960s show T.H.E. Cat, though there will never be anyone like Robert Loggia. Melissa George has held assorted roles since then, including Lauren Reed in Alias, Laura in In Treatment, and Dr. Sadie Harris in Grey's Anatomy. These were great, but I don't think she's really found her place in TV history yet. But maybe that will change soon, because she's just nabbed the female lead in the CBS drama pilot US Attorney.
According to Mike Ausiello of EW.com, George will play Susan, an assistant district attorney and ex-wife to the section chief, played by Michael Lange. The show centers around a team of federal prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan.
Since we just lost Boston Legal, the time seems ripe for a new legal drama. I'll look forward to seeing what this show is all about, as well as Melissa George in a role I hope she can sink her teeth into.
Any other Melissa George fans out there?

I remember Thieves fairly fondly, though those memories are increasingly vague. And as much as I hated her character on Alias I thought she was really hot and a decent actor, which is all you can ask for really.
Oh, and she was disturbingly hot and awkwardly realistic on In Treatment. And that's a good thing.

I remember Thieves as well! She was out of place on Greys, way too much whiny drama going on there. I'm glad she gets to be on a new show.

She's a so-so actress, but her inability to hold an American accent is horrible. They had to make up a whole background story for her in Alias on why an American senator's daughter would have a "British" accent when she clearly sounded Australian most of the time. She made no effort to hide her Australian accent in Grey's and they made no attempt to give her any backstory. And in "In Treatment" her accent was breaking all the time.
Melissa should get an accent coach and take note from fellow Aussies such as Naomi Watts, Anna Torv and Yvonne Strahovski - they've landed good roles. Maybe if she masters her American accent, roles that don't require writers to come up with a thin backstory, she'd land more decent roles.
