Could one of the top stars be leaving one of TV's top shows?Zap2It is reporting that Evangeline Lilly, who plays Kate on ABC's Lost, is currently auditioning for roles on new TV shows. And these aren't shows that are going to premiere after Lost ends its run after next season, these are pilots for new shows starting this fall. Hmmm...
This wouldn't be the first time that Lost has gotten rid of a major character on the. They killed off Charlie and Eko and Anna and got rid of Michael and Walt, so it's not like the show is against throwing fans for a loop and having anything possible. But Kate is a major major character, one that holds a lot of the plots together emotionally (her relationships with Jack and Sawyer, taking care of Aaron for Claire) so it would be a big deal if she were to leave. Several Lost sites have been reporting that a "majorish" character will be killed off before this season ends.
(Lilly's rep says the report isn't true.)
Or maybe Kate isn't killed. Maybe she's kidnapped or goes into hiding for some reason the writers can come up with, perhaps related to whatever she did with Aaron before she went back to the island. Or maybe Evangeline Lilly is just playing it safe or it's some contract tactic? Whatever, It's another Lost thing we can all obsess on for the next few months.

This is in no way shape or form a spoiler! It's news - spoilers tell how something is going to pan out - this is just saying she maybe leaving, it doesn't say she is.
Also - she better NOT be leaving!

Kinda coulda kept that to yourself but I seriously doubt she leaves the show anyway. They will pay her a huge raise. The show has one more season after this one? The writers don't want to think of changing the script without her. I could be wrong. If I am I will be ticked and the show will be lost.

Kate rivals Jack as the most boring character on "Lost". Maybe it's because as the "stars", we've already seen so much about them, and they always seem to respond to events in the same ways. Maybe it's because the actors playing them are just not the same caliber as most of the other people on the show (Locke and Ben show more depth and emotion just in his eyes than Kate or Jack can manage with dialogue, or in Jack's case, a really nasty beard--and even a new character like Daniel Faraday is already more appealing and three-dimensional than Jack & Kate due to the skill of the actor).

TVSquad does a pretty good job with the spoiler crap - I'm so glad I already watched Lost and Top Chef before reading TVGuide's blog today - they spoil that certain characters were reappearing on Lost and WHO WON Top Chef. They are ridiculous.
I think if it's just a rumor, it's not a spoiler. However, I'm still mad at EVERY TV BLOG for spoiling the Nicolette Sheridan thing. grr

Wow. Maybe the set of people you know who watch "Lost" feel that way. None of the people I know do. And it seems like online, she's _far_ from the most beloved character on the show--I've read LOTS of posts hoping that she was finished when she hit her head on the rocks in "316".

Agree with the people that consider this an unprotected spoiler. It's irrelevant if some other site reported it - it'll affect my viewing of the show if I know a character is leaving.
If this kind of thing happens regularly, I'll just remove TVSquad from my RSS feeds and get my news elsewhere. This is a good site, but not exactly irreplaceable.
And it's so easy to not do this. Just put your headline as, "Is a major actor leaving Lost?" and tease it for a paragraph. The people who want to know will click through (and there are a lot of them), the ones that don't want to know will get a chance to turn back. It's just treating your readers with respect.

I completely disagree. First, it's my OPINION that this is not a spoiler, but just idle speculation on Korbi side. This is no more a spolier than me posting in a comment thread that Lost might kill off any of it's leads. Rumor and speculation, even reported from another site does not constitute confirmation, something necessary to a spoiler, again in my opinion. I digress, lest I start a flame war and get told to fuck off myself.
What frustrates me is you folks. I understand you're pissed, but I think you've made your own bed here. TVS has made habit posting this type of stuff before, and probably will many times in the future. Every month or so there's a post that gets someones ire up so much they I just don't get. They are going to post stuff like this again. If it's not your bag, then don't just threaten to remove it from your RSS reader, do it and save yourself the frustration. Because trust me, within the next month or so it will happen again.
Personally, I've choosen to stay spoiler free about two shows Lost and BSG. I've been coming to this site and several others for years now, and have remained exactly as spoiler free as I've wanted to be. YMMV obviously, but that's just my two cents.
