Look, I've stuck with Heroes all the way through. I even defended it during the second season and the first half of this season, when fans were insulting it and running off in droves. I'm still going to stick with it, but I'm closer to not watching the show than I've ever been before.Last night's episode had the usual mix of the good and the bad. I like the whole Sylar/Luke story. It gets Sylar away from the rest of the heroes and gives him his own story/quest. I'm sure his story will intersect with the rest of the heroes towards the end of the season, but I'm glad he's not up against them right now. I like the whole "screwed up buddy picture" vibe he has with the kid and the adventures they could get into on the way.
I also like Claire being back at home (though I don't see how or why her mom and brother didn't flee long ago), helping the comic book guy run from her dad and the other agents. Promising ending with HRG being drugged, too.
But Hiro. Oh, God, Hiro.
Remember when he was the most likable of the heroes? I don't get why the writers keep giving him stupid plot lines to deal with, searching for his "destiny" and doing dumb things. And again in another country? First we had that tedious stuff in 1600s Japan, then he was in Africa, and now he's in India, to ... well, for some reason I still don't quite get. It just confuses the main story and introduces more characters to not care about. And can someone explain to me how Hiro and Ando got to India, since Hiro doesn't have powers right now and I'm sure they couldn't get on a plane without being spotted. Do the heroes have an invisible plane like Wonder Woman?
I remember a couple of months ago that the producers said there wasn't going to be any more crazy stuff, that we're actually going to see the heroes back in their regular jobs being regular people. Yeah, I think that lasted an episode and a half. I'm sticking with this show, but unlike the first season, I keep saying to myself, I wish it was better.
P.S. I think it would be awesome if Moira Kelly was playing the same character she played on The West Wing. That would help explain her (very welcome) vanishing from that show. Hey, both jobs are government-related, so it's possible.

Brother, you said it!
My hats off to you for sticking with it. I gave up about two episodes in this season.
I watch "Chuck," then switch over to either "The Closer" or "24" (which is actually very good this year), and then, if the 10PM news is too depressing (which it usually is these days), I switch back and watch Medium.
I loved "Heroes" sooooo much that first season but the thrill is just gone.

Man I'm so with you Hiro is annoying as hell.. You'd think his
character would have matured a little bit by now.. I cant stand his voice let alone his story line.
For the love god please some one... any one.. squeeze a few off in the back of Claire Bear's head..
" And can someone explain to me how Hiro and Ando got to India, since Hiro doesn't have powers right now and I'm sure they couldn't get on a plane without being spotted."

now?(what happened to her?) maybe he called in some favors Im sure they got him a private jet. maybe waved his passport as an added perk.. he has to have some extra stacks how do you think he got that damn Ando Cycle..

I'm sorry Tim Kring, but it's called "compelling storytelling."
You want to have a "convoluted" plot that is going to keep the viewers tuning in week after week to try and figure out what is happening. I understand that. Good for you, shoot for the stars.
But come on. You can't just plop the viewer down in a foreign country with characters we don't care about and a task we know nothing about. I have enough faith in the writers (based on the sheer fact that someone has enough faith in them to give them a paycheque) that this India thing is going to turn into something, but you can't expect the readers to care about this. Hiro and Ando just are not compelling enough characters to put them somewhere and have the viewers come along.
Ugh. Worst episode of the season, maybe even the series.

I regularly tune in, but the amount of time before I lose interest in each episode is dwindling.
Hiro is a constant source of boredom.

Oh, Bob, you nailed it right on the head. I have also tried sooo hard to stick with Heroes because I absolutely loved the first season. But it has become ever more difficult to stay as engaged with such poor story telling.
It's safe to classify Heroes as "sci-fi" and when it first debuted I felt that it had mega cult-like potential like Battlestar Gallactica/Lost, but I'm clearly starting to see the difference between incredible story telling and mediocre story telling.
I'm tired of incredibly childish Hiro, wanna-be badass Claire and the basically useless Niki/Tracy. I personally feel that the writers need to step up their game or this show won't be around for another season. If it is, a lot of the fans won't be!

Best part of the episode was when the song Psycho Killer by Talking Heads came on the radio as Sylar & Luke were driving away. The smirk on Luke's face was priceless.

That should have been how the episode ended...wih Psycho Killer playing.
If I hear the words "hero," "villain" or "destiny" again I'm going to, well, I'd like to say smash things, but I'll just stop watching really at this point.

Bob... Its funny, I asked a lot of the same questions.
I disagree about Kelly though... While I am a massive fan of both Moira Kelly and, as you well know, the West Wing, I don't think we need more Mandy Hampton. Besides, too much of a reach for me for a glorified publicist get a security related adviser roll.
Though, it would be nice to get an explanation of what happened to her. I've never given up hope that we might find out where Mandyville is.

I so agree me and my brother were watching Heroes and thought Hiro really is dumb and boring. We both liked him a lot in season 1. But we were talking about why we liked him and it came down to Future Hiro.
Future Hiro is bad *** and normal Hiro is just dumb. We found out we only liked him because we thought Hiro would some day become future Hiro even if Ando did not die.
But not we get boring Hiro. Plus no power Hiro could be better then powerful Hiro but they had to screw that up. Right after Hiro found out He did not need powers to be a Hero that was a cool moment. That He had to wrack it by saying Ya-Ta. Now I will say I thought that was funny/cool in the beginning but Hiro keeps saying that. So Hiro needs new stuff to say.
So yes Hiro is boring and annoying. Hack all the characters on the show are. I can't believe I am watching a show and the only person I like on it is Sylar. He needs to get his own show and it be called Villain or Villains his Brother which I think is Luke is cool to. He might not be his brother but I think He is.
So yeah I enjoy Heroes but only because of one person and that because Zack does some good acting and makes his character cool when every other one is just dull.

On a side note people that could have made Heroes have some added depth but were only on the show for a little time like the Puppet Master & Vortex guy get killed off.
Plus a great actor David Anders (Adam) and female character I could watch all day Kristen Bell (Elle) get taken off the show.
I am supportive to the show because I really think Heroes could be a great TV show but the people writing the scripts for Heroes really do not have the best ideas and know were to take the characters. I would gladly gives ideas and take no pay and be able to bring out better things then what is shown right now.
So when you see people like Hiro fall from being a favorite to what he is now it is sad because you know the character could be so much better but hes not.

Right on, Bob. This season it has becoming increasingly difficult to maintain enthusiasm -- or even patience -- for "Heroes." This episode was about as bad as it has gotten. Ando and Hiro in India ... WTF? Matt spontaneously has Isaac's painting ability. And just when the Nathan / capture-the-heroes storyline gets its desperately needed dose of reality (a government official insisting that, no matter what else they are, these are American citizens with the right to due process) ... she turns 180 degrees on herself because she saw someone she knows freeze a dude to death.
What a betrayal of her character and her argument. Just give her one more line of dialogue -- "You'll have your funding ... but I'm going to be watching you to make sure you treat these people like human beings" -- and it becomes a great development. Instead it's a quick and predictable return to Suspension of Disbelief Land.
Everybody loves Hiro and his ability. In Season One we all loved Peter and seeing what new power he'd get next, and how he'd learn to use them all. So what do the writers do? "Let's take away all their powers for 10 episodes and see if they're still entertaining to anyone!" Great idea.
It's so difficult to love the characters and premise of a show, and find yourself hating everything that they are doing and saying and thinking. I'm the sort of fan who commits to a show and sticks with it to the bitter end, but this is like crawling over glass. They should

Bob, unfortunately, I have to agree with you this time.
However, I feel the problem transcends Hiro's character in that the whole show is muddled and confused.
Maybe I am biased because I had watched BSG and Lost on tivo just before watching this episode of Heroes.
It's like coming back from a vacation in Bali and going straight to a dentist for a root canal!

Not only was the Hiro plot line boring, it was completely ridiculous. Besides the fact that Hiro punches like a girl, he punched a mob boss on his wedding day (that had no other mob guests) and the guy say "you hurt my feelings, you can have your friend back."

I am sad about it, but you are right - Hiro is boring. Peter without his powers from seasons 1&2 is boring.
Claire & Niki/Jessica/Tracy - boring.
Sylar - still awesome. Bennett pretty good. Nathan - douchebag, but you have to have a villain & he's doing okay at that.
I still haven't recovered from the season 1 finale. The show seemed to be building up to an awesome Peter/Sylar smackdown, but then - BORING.
Season 1 Heroes was the first thing I watched on my DVR Monday nights.
Now I kick it off when I go to bed. if I fall asleep & miss anything, I figure I'll read about it on the intertubes & go back to watch it.

You hit that one on the head, dude. I've hated Hiro since season one. He has got to be the stupidest TV character EVER. I fast forwarded through his scenes. I've never done that before. I plan to continue doing that, too. I almost fast forwarded through Sylar's scenes, too. At least Claire told her mom what was going on. That's the only thing that saved her entire plot line this episode.
I'm really very close to giving up on this show.

I have seen the question of who is 'Rebel' posted on a couple sites and i haven't seen anyone chime in with any guesses, is that just because it seems pretty obvious that it is Angela?
She told Nathan off for going against her and taking it to the president and she had the files sitting there with her, including one on Nathan's hunter buddy. It just seems real likely/obvious that she would be trying to help the other people with powers especially the ones she considers friends and her granddaughter (Claire). Just my two cents.
