The A-Team movie has become the fabled Citizen Kane of our times, which doesn't say a whole hell of a lot for our times. The movie has been passed around and played with more than a bongo at Matthew McConaughey's house. It's gone from production staff to production staff, studio to studio, and now director to director.
Several outlets have reported that the project now has a new director. The megaphone has been passed from Ridley Scott to Smokin' Aces writer and director Joe Carnahan.
I'm dreading another big screen TV show remake, but then again, that's why God invented the restaurant movie theater. It's got all the comforts of a regular movie theater, as well as sweet, delicious, mind erasing beer. I know that because that's why I enjoyed Smokin' Aces so much.
The appointment of a new director, however, hasn't offered many plot details. But thanks to G.I. Joe scribe Skip Woods, the project has a script that Carnahan described as a "popcorn movie" that's set in "the real world." Here's just a guess: a smoking hot woman and the small diner she runs with her elderly father is in some kind of trouble with, oh, let's say Al-Qaeda and only The A-Team can straighten things out.
Of course, no names have been attached to the four main characters yet since the project has been hanging on for dear life longer than Abe Vigoda. The minute we know, we'll let you know because chances are we won't have anything meaningful to do with our time then.

"a bongo at Matthew McConaughey's house"
That extra "o" is a typo, right?

I was going to rant, but your plot is perfect and now I can't wait to see how the A-Team saves the diner from Al-Q.

I thought it was John Singleton that was attached before, not Scott?
