Do you realize there are only three episodes of Battlestar Galactica left until the series finale airs? It's true. It's almost time to say goodbye to Adama, Starbuck and the toasters. Hopefully, we'll get some answers to all the big questions before we move on to Caprica. Our buddies at SyFy Portal are reporting that the BSG finale will be three hours long and split into two parts. Sci Fi Channel plans to air the first hour-long part of the finale, titled "Daybreak," in the show's normal 10 p.m. timeslot on March 13. The network will air the two final hours on March 20. The March 13 hour will be repeated before 8 p.m. on March 20 for those who want to watch all three hours straight through.
So, basically the three-hour finale will consist of three episodes that pick up right where the last one leaves off? That's fine with me. I'm glad Ron Moore and Sci Fi aren't trying to cram the series' finale into one hour. A series full of unanswered questions like this needs to devote more time to its final act than a regular running time would allow. Still, judging by the last episode, it sure feels like they're rushing to the end. Anders' sudden memory return and Cavil's long exposition-heavy monologue scenes didn't really wow me. I hope we get more "showing" and less "telling" in the next episode.

That's cool ... the "mini-series" which launched the show is also 3 hours. I don't mind the "telling," as there is still plenty of telling left to do. I'm confident something important will happen that will work as the "showing."

Not to be too picky but the original mini-series was 4 hours but was cut down to 3 when it was rebroadcast on NBC.

Also not trying to be picky but I meant 3 hours sans commercial. If you pop in the DVD of the mini-series the sum total is 3 hours.

Well then your use of the word "also" doesn't apply, because this definitely will NOT be 3 hours after removing commercials.

You are correct Andy.
I guess I was speaking from my own personal perspective as I never saw the mini-series on TV and saw it on DVD in one 3 hour sitting. Since SciFi will air 3 hours of BSG on the last night in a 3 hour block (yes, with commercials), I used the word "also" as it applies to me.
What an utterly useless thread I have started.

Actually, although the finalé is 3 hours of TV it has already been stated that the DVD version will be even longer, so it may yet come to pass that the mini-series and finalé will end up being roughly the same length.
Still, I'm not entirely sure that that means anything.

Frak both of you for bickering over such a small detail. The running time of both is about 2 centars, give or take a few centons.
