Fallon cuts his eye to win one for Adrian, er, NBC

A lot of the Jimmy Fallon haters out there have been ripping his chances before the man has even had a chance to make a footprint on NBC's late night lineup.

It's a little unfair. Sure, he's had a checkered path of success post-Saturday Night Live, but Conan O'Brien wasn't even a gleam in the public's cornea when he took over for Letterman and everyone was writing his obituary before the show reached the third trimester.

After watching this video blog on his Late Night with Jimmy Fallon site, it's clear that man is, if anything, committed to proving his naysayers wrong by letting a virtual strangler mutilate his eyeballs.

Fallon went under the knife in preparation for his new Late Night show. No, he didn't have a funny gland installed. If he did, I would have one done by now. Sure it would be expensive, but technically it would also be a tax deduction.

He had LASIK eye surgery to improve his natural eyesight and he recorded the whole procedure for his video blog. And yes, I mean EVERYTHING. Watch it with someone you hate while they are eating peeled grapes.

Fallon said on his recent traditional "changing of the guard" visit to O'Brien's show that he had the surgery so he could read his cue cards better without his glasses. Granted, he didn't undergo some kind of risky surgery that could have killed him or put a third arm growing out of his head if things went wrong. But it shows he's committed to make the show work on a stylish and aesthetic level. Let someone stick a knife in your eyeballs to improve your job and see what happens.
