Granted, there is has been no official word from the network on this. However, the new ABC pilot of Eastwick (which is based on the John Updike novel The Witches of Eastwick) is being directed by none other than David Nutter. Nutter is currently 14 for 14 when it comes to directing pilots that get picked up into a series.The question is, even if Nutter is directing the pilot, will the series (assuming it's picked up) even last that long? Nutter has directed the pilots of long-lasting series like Smallville, but has also directed pilots of series that have quickly come and gone like Jack & Bobby.
I enjoyed the 1987 movie adaptation of the book, but I base that on Jack Nicholson's over-the-top performance as the Devil. The only Devil I currently like on television is Ray Wise. I guess this is another case of waiting to see what the end product brings us.

I really hate it when people compare news shows to old or existing ones but... didnt they do this with charmed a while back?
