Press Kits Unwrapped: House's 100th episode

HouseThis isn't the first time I've gotten a press kit, but it is the first time I've gotten a press kit for a TV show I actually like. So, I was pretty excited when the kit showed up on my front stoop and would have been impressed with a box full of Styrofoam pellets. Which is fortunate, because that's exactly what Fox sent.

Ok, that's not exactly fair. I thought it was a box of Styrofoam pellets until I dug a little deeper and pulled out a DVD of the 100th episode of House and two wonderful little surprises.

Before we get to the goodies inside, let's take a look at the packaging. The top of the box has a picture of House in an undershirt getting 100 dash-marks tattooed onto his bare shoulder (representing the 100 cases he's solved so far) with a predictably dour look on his face. I'm definitely not one of those fans that finds Hugh Laurie the slightest bit sexy, but I gotta say, tattoos of any kind are hot. Here's a closer look:

For the 100th episode of House, the press kit includes a nice replica of the infamous red and gray ball that sits on House's desk. It's a good deal larger than what comfortably fits in my hand, but maybe that's because I have really tiny palms. Anyway, House seems to do his best thinking when he's tossing this little ball around, so I am keeping it at my desk at work, hoping it will inspire some moments of genius. The text reads: 100 great episodes/110 treated patients/1 sick bastard. So true.

I've saved the best part for last. The kit includes an awesome little blue and white book that's filled with 100 favorite House-isms and a compilation of the final diagnoses from all 100 episodes. The book is printed on nice, heavy paper with a single prong biding at the top. It's something that I feel bad having, because I know die-hard fans would love it. Sadly, I'm forbidden from auctioning any of this swag off on eBay for fear of feeling the wrath of Fox. But, I've included five of my favorite House-isms mentioned in the book:

"I thought I'd get your theories, mock them, then embrace my own. The usual." - Merry Little Christmas

"Candy canes? Are you trying to mock me?" - Damned If You Do

"Everybody Lies" - Pilot

"No, if you talk to God, you're religious. If God talks to you, you're psychotic." - House vs. God

"Dying people lie too. Wish they'd worked less, been nicer, opened orphanages for kittens. If you really want to do something, you do it. You don't save it for a sound bite." - Hunting

Seeing as how this is my first press kit for a TV show, I'm not in a position to complain too much, but man, where's my House action figure? Now, that would have been awesome.
