There seems to be an epidemic of blabbermouthing going around these days. First, Vice President Joe Biden's wife Jill lets it slip on Oprah that Joe had his choice of VP or Secretary of State (snap Hillary!), then Steve Martin reveals that he and Tina Fey will be presenting together at the Oscars (so much for secret presenters), now Donny's let the cat out of the bag. While taping The Bonnie Hunt Show, Donny Osmond announced that he's doing Dancing With the Stars, the new edition that commences in March.
Oops! See, it wasn't Donny's job to make the announcement. He was supposed to let ABC decide the right time to reveal the lineup of celebrity dancers, although whether they can dance before the show begins is debatable.
If you ask me, Donny Osmond will probably be a very good contestant. Better than Marie was. And I don't think he's going to be fainting before the judges at any point. In Donny's defense, he didn't mean to blab, but when he tried to back track and say he was only considering the gig, he did talk about how he would be doing his Las Vegas show at the same time as DWTS was taping.
A little leaking for DWTS is not really a bad thing. Warren Sapp had said repeatedly before his turn that he was going to do the show. Not everyone -- including me -- believed it. Well, Sapp proved me wrong and, in fact, was one of the best contestants. I thought he should have won.

Remember when Rosie O first got her own show, before coming out? She played up this huge crush on Donny, made this enormous deal about him finally appearing on the show, and then he comes on and calls her fat. I am no fan of Rosie, but that was classless.
I was on a plane once with Donny (out of Salt Lake, natch.) You'd think anyone with that kind of pull would kick it in the executive lounge until final boarding, then grab his seat 2 seconds before lift off. No, Donny boarded first (row 1, aisle) so that 200 people could file past him in awe.
Sorry about the Donny hate, kids.

Watch the behind the scenes bits on the Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat dvd and try and tell me Donny has no personality! Personally I think Marie is the personality-less Osmond! (Then again I just think Donny is adorable, and I will probably watch Dancing with the Stars for the first time just because of Donny...)
Can't say anything on him calling Rosie fat - doesn't seem like him to me, but I know thats not the kind of thing that could be made up - I'm just having trouble reconciling my sweet Donny of Joseph, (and of the Pyramid game show - we used to watch it everyday before going to eat in the caf back in college), with him calling anyone fat, especially in public on tv...
