It's been done for business executives, wrestlers and singers, and now potential professional football players will be getting their chance to compete for their dreams. Michael Irvin is hosting a reality television show on Spike in which the winner will get a spot on the Dallas Cowboys training camp roster. The judges are going to be former football players and coaches.I'm surprised someone at the NFL didn't think of this earlier. Perhaps they did but they were afraid fans would take the sport less seriously. The candidates will need a football background, but not much (more than high school). This is definitely on the right network for this particular type of reality television.
I'm not a football fan, so I'd like to ask anybody out there that is one: what do you think of this? Is this something you would legitimately be interested in watching or is it a waste of a spot in the roster?

Isn't this what college football is for?

This is a great idea. And that they're judged by coaches and football players will determine how they play for the Dallas Cowboys training roster.

Perhaps the Cowboys as an organization should worry less about being in a reality show and more about fixing what a complete embarassment this organization is. It's filled with criminals(Tank Johnson and the recently released Adam Jones), Mental cases (TO) and disapointments (Tony Romo, Marion Barber). With the other talent on this team they should be winning championships and they can't get out of their own way and even make the playoffs. It's an embarassment of an organization. I wish nothing but bad for it, it's fans and any tv show related to it.

As a football fan I think this is an excellent idea. I have watched every season of Hard Knocks on HBO and have been entertained by each one. If it's produced with the same care that the Biggest Loser is, then the show could be pretty good.
As a Cowboys fan I'm always amazed at the unnatural anger people seem to have for this franchise and its fans. What amazes me the most is that they always seem to know just as much about the team as Cowboys fans do.
Tony, did Jerry Jones take away your fist born child? Were you emasculated by a gang of Cowboys fans? Seriously guy, you didn't even answer the question.

I am a big football fan but I will not be watching this. Just another publicity stunt by jones to keep a cowboys team that can't win a playoff game in the news. No thanks.
