I think we're going to start a new weekly feature here at TV Squad: "This Week In CNBC Crazy." We've had Dennis Kneale wondering if Steve Jobs has PMS, we've had Charlie Gasparino and the incredibly odd what have you got video, and now we have another weird moment. And, yes, it features both Kneale and Gasparino, going after each other.This one has the comedy duo talking about Citigroup. At one point, Gasparino accuses Kneale of being a bad reporter, leading Kneale to say that one CNBC reporter shouldn't be saying something bad about another CNBC reporter. Anchor Larry Kudlow had to break it up. Thankfully, they weren't in the same studio (though a fist fight on CNBC might actually be kind of funny).
Who would have thought that some of the weirdest weekly happenings would be on a business news channel that talks about stocks and bonds? I might have to start watching this network again, which might be the reason why they keep acting like this, to get more viewers. Either that or it's real hatred.

I haven't paid attention to The Call since Larry Kudlow took over for Dylan Ratigan. I can't really stand him.

I turned on CNBC for the first time in a while, and I was shocked by how bad the network is these days. It used to be as business-like as what they report on, but they seem to have fallen victim to the "all sizzle and no steak" style of reporting.
What I saw was lots of "whoosh" sound affects accompanying graphics screaming about "BREAKING NEWS!!!!!" and such; one report interrupting another segment for no particular reason other than to make it look that much more urgent; and interviewees that seem like they're chosen more for how telegenic they are than how business-savvy they are.
Frankly, I'm not sure why CNBC is choosing to go down this road. It's not like the "average Joe" is going to tune into a network like CNBC, no matter how flashy they make it... it's still reporting on dull stuff like going long on put orders, being bullish on tech stocks, and how the futures market is doing. And frankly, if I were interested in business reporting, I'd want to watch the LESS flashy version that tells me what I need to hear as thoroughly as possible.
