FOX has canceled Prison Break. Now, I think that even for hardcore fans this doesn't really come as a shock. I remember when the show premiered, the first question on everyone's mind was, how are they going to make an entire season of a TV show about a prison break? And as the first season went on the questions became, what happens if and when they get out of prison? Will the show end? Will they have to change the name of the show? That last one was actually toyed with but then abandoned.
FOX's Kevin Reilly says that the show has simply "run its course," and this is probably one of the few times that TV fans will agree with a network executive. The remaining episodes will start airing on April 17, but there's no word on how many episodes will be shown, the ones that are already done or if more will be filmed.

I'm kinda glad.
I've watched every episode and I didn't enjoy them for quite some time now. But I hung in there, because I was "invested". Now FOX has taken the burden off me.

I have somewhat enjoyed the episodes, but I'm with you in that the main reason I have continued to watch is because I'm invested.
Hopefully the showrunners will be able to rejigger the last episodes so they suit for a series ender, assuming of course that Fox shows them.

I stopped watching about 2 or 3 episodes into season 3. It wasn't too bad when they were on the run in season 2, but I was done once they essentially hit the reset button in season 3.
My wife, god love her, kept watching. I'm sure she'll be disappointed to hear the news.

i gave up after the first several episodes of this season. i decided i'd wait till it was finally over and plow through them on a weekend. i would have been shocked if there was another season after this one. the show was great first season, terrible second season, ok third season and eh this season.

There are four episodes left in the PRISON BREAK order, but FOX may add a fifth to give the producers enough time to wrap everything up.
PB will return to the schedule - on Friday nights - after SARAH CONNOR wraps up.

The show did run its course. I actually liked the idea that there was a bigger political conspirascy working against the brothers, but it just got way too elaborate to the point it was either a task to figure it out or just a jumbled mess. Oh they need to find six different cards to get something called Scillya, and each card is in a different part of the globe and so on and so. This show had a great idea (man commits crime to go to prison then uses his nifty tattoos to break out with his brother) and then thier idea was to reboot the whole show and make it a different show every season. I'm actually surprised it lasted as long as it did given the nature of the series.

I am just happy FOX is considering ending the show properly instead of finding out that it ended with the last show broadcasted. I am sure other shows wish it had the same situation.

I answered yes to the question above, but I don't agree that the show "overstayed its welcome". I enjoyed every moment I spent watching Prision Break and I'll happily see it sail off into the sunset this Spring.

Patrick, I'm simply not voting. I do wish Mr. Sassone would have had a third choice - something with a "yes" in it but also nothing like "overstayed". Just like you.
Freedom to make one's opinion in a supposedly objective poll shouldn't require something like this.
Mr. Bob - we knew YOUR opinion of this show almost three years ago. That was when you went off the deep end on your posts, admitting to falling asleep. That's cool. But how about skipping the editorializing in the polls?
My vote is "Yes, the show's run it's course. But no, it's didn't overstay it."
Where does that fit in?

They are ending it right when they were supposed to. The showrunners said early in season 1 that it would only be a 4 year series. 2 years for the breakout and 2 years for fugitives on the run trying to clear their names and taking down the company. They just didn't tell us it would be 1 yr pb, 1 yr fugitives, 1 yr pb, another yr fugitives. As long as everything gets wrapped up I'm great with this decision since they announced it this way from the beginning. I knew how long it would be on for and decided I would invest in it. Same thing with Rome on HBO. They said upfront it was a 2 yr series and I decided to invest in that, although it almost got cancelled after the 1st season because of high production costs. I wish more nets would have shows where they tell you upfront that they will be X seasons long and that they won't cancel them prematurely. I think they would get more viewers if they did this more often and the shows don't suck.

As long as Fox lets the remaining 8 episodes of this season go air then I'll be happy, as the final 4 are still in production, so they'd have time to change it to a proper ending.

im glad if it went any longer it would have just been ridiculus
which its pretty close to being already but it better end with some resolution. either they take the company down or find out the company is really out there doing good things or every body dies either works for me

Jodi Lyn O'Keefe is the new Ted McGinley.
First Nash Bridges, now Prison Break.
I wonder if someone can get her on Two and a Half Men...

About time. I enjoyed Seasons 1 and 2 (one of the best first seasons of any TV show in the past decade), but 3 was horrible and the current season is so ridiculous it makes the other 3 seem plausible! I, like others, only keep watching it because I'm invested 3+ seasons now. But I won't miss it. I just hope they wrap it up in some semi-logical way such that Michael, Lincoln, and Sarah can walk off into the sunset no longer wanted, hunted, and threatened. We don't need to see Michael and Sarah get married, we don't need to see Linc get a huge monetary settlement for being wrongfully incarcerated. I would like to know what Scylla actually is, but I really don't care.
Da... Dum Dahh!
I'm just so horrified (because there's a 99% chance it will happen) that FOX will cancel Terminator: TSCC, a show I really like, which as NOT yet run its course.

Jodi Lynn O' Keefe was on an episode of "Two and a Half Men", a few seasons back, maybe even its first season I'm not sure.
