(S02E15) If in real life the reading of a will often brings loads of family drama, you can bet that when said reading occurs on The CW's Gossip Girl, drama will most definitely be at the party along with its long-time friends Backstabbing, Screams, Threats, Jealousy, and so on. Did the reading of Bart's will offered us the drama and shock we all expected? My two cents coming up!Or should I say "your two cents coming up"? See, I haven't watched the episode yet and won't until this weekend. Actually, I wrote this post a week ago since I am currently away in a land where there are no TV sets in sight and where Internet access is limited! I know, how can I live without a TV!!! Sometimes I wonder. Why couldn't another TV Squad blogger take over reviewing duties this week, you ask? Well, it looks like my fellow bloggers have yet be engulfed by the life of the Upper Eastsiders and be sucked in the series thanks to Ed Westwick's amazing work as Chuck Bass. They don't know what they are missing, eh?
Since I can't review this week's episode, I turn to you, my faithful readers. Did you find the reading of the will shocking? Do you think Bart's wishes will create ripple effects in upcoming episodes? Was Dan able to keep the secret from Serena? Based on what happened in the episode, do you think Jack is a true Basswhole? What do you think of the addition of Jack? Is it good or bad for the show? Are you happy with the turn of events between Lily and Rufus?
I'll begin my episode 2.16 review next week with a paragraph or two about what I thought of "Gone with the Will," and will include some of the best comments/reviews you will leave here today. So don't be shy and share your thoughts about "Gone with the Will."

this episode provided the expected drama that reeked of Hamlet/The Lion King, but it was still entertaining to watch. the eric/boyfriend storyline felt a little hamfisted, seeing that they havent had the boyfriend on for a while. honestly, my favorite part of the episode was seeing the return of the tween doppelgängers! i love them and their empty, snarky stares. they should have more cameos.

I really liked this episode.
Yes it was a little shallow on the edges but still provided drama and suspense.
Certainly one of my favorite shows.

I'm still laughing at the thought of Chuck running a company and anyone being OK with that, even Chuck.

I agree wholeheartedly with GI -- the fact that ANYONE thought Chuck could run that company is completely laughable. This, in addition to many other inconsistencies and ridiculousness, contributed to my opinion that Gossip Girl is starting to SUCK and the writers need to do a major turn-around to get things back on the level of "good television."

His uncle might have set him up to get rid of him from running the company but he still has 51% ownership and that should give him control to hire and fire anyone he wants including the board of directors.

It was a downer to be sure. And although Chuck did it to himself, I still felt the most sympathy towards him. He's an incredible character. I can't believe Blair actually gave up on him. Those two never can get their timing right.
So glad to see Aaron go! He was one of my least favorite characters. Hopefully they'll bring someone else in, though, because the Dan/Serena thing is played.
Oh, and Jake should go die in a fire..

I really liked the episode. I'm usually against the Humphrey offsprings, but I love their interactions with the VanDerWoodsens. And I always get an aww moment when these two families come together and act as one family (re: Thanksgiving episodes). So the ending of the episode was a real gift for me.
As for the long-lost half brother, it was very sly for his parents to make up that story to throw them off the scent. I can't wait to meet him, but I wonder how long will we have to wait.
As a Chuck/Blair fan, the end was disappointing for me when Blair once again gives up on Chuck. Yes what Chuck did was awful, but these two can never get on the same page and even though that's the point of shows like these, it's still plenty frustrating. I mean he has done worst and so without even talking about it she's just suddenly "done" with him? And what about him? Way to put up a fight. I swear if these two actors weren't so engaging, I would be so "done" with them as well.
I also have to talk about "V" and Nate because I'm probably the only person who likes these characters. It's sad that the writers have NO IDEA what to do with Nate. I mean even last episode when Chuck was going through all that crap and Nate was absent, what was that about? I did like his "moment" with Dan. I see the bromance brewing once again. And how cute was Vanessa reacting to the tween girls knowing who she was? She "failed upwards." Too funny.

honestly, i think the half-brother story line is done. after hearing that he "died" i think it means that any awkwardness between the families dies too.
and why does everyone feel that Blair is suddenly dropping Chuck? IMHO, she should have dropped him a long time ago. do we forget all that he has done to her? he kept throwing the fact that she gave him her virginity in her face, she stranded her at the airport, he tried to break up her relationship with the Brit, and many times over has pushed her away, when all she has done was try to be there for him. her pushing him away is long overdue.
