I don't like football, but I do watch the Super Bowl for the commercials. This year there might be a little bit more for other non-football fans to watch.NBC is airing the game this season, on February 1, and they plan to use some of the ad time to "reintroduce" people to several of their shows. God knows they need it. They're going to show clips from several series, remind longtime fans of each show what's important to keep in mind about the show, and also take some time to try to lure new fans to the shows as well. That's a tall order. The shows that will probably be plugged include the entire Monday night lineup (Heroes, Chuck, and the returning Medium), as well as the special episode of The Office that will run after the game, the new drama Kings, and perhaps Amy Poehler's new comedy. The network might even use USA and Bravo to promote stuff during the game.
This could possibly work. Heroes, Chuck, and Life are taking January off so it will be good to remind viewers, "hey, remember these shows?"

Let's hope that this keeps Chuck and Heroes from going under. Heroes is not at its peak right now, but the next season seems to be going in the direction I wanted the show to head from the beginning.
Chuck IS at its peak and keeps getting better. That show needs an audience to keep going, but it's clearly one of the better shows around right now.

How about, "Hey, remember Journeyman and My Own Worst Enemy? You know, those great shows we canned so we can keep Knight Rider on the air and continue SNL, aka 'the well-beaten dead horse'."

They have one of the best shows on TV, Life and they don't do anything to promote it. The keep promoting Chuck, it goes up against MNF and WWE, that's what their demo is watching.
And they canceled Journeyman, though it would still be on if not for the strike. But NBC was to cheap to lock in the actors and such.

They used the superbowl to promote the heck out of My Own Worst Enemy 6 months before it aired. Of course they cancelled it when they didn't get the financial return on it they had hoped.
They need money to afford to hold on to shows that need time to develop an audience. They should jack up the price of the Superbowl Commercials to offset the cost of burying money into shows they have no faith in.

No need for "reintroductions." We all know who Jay Leno is.

does advertising work for nbc? judging from the promotional push during the Olympics and the lack of any new hits, i don't know...
i honestly don't understand why they wasted the post-superbowl spot on the office, a show that doesn't really need any more boost. they should've put chuck (their best show imo) or any of their new series if they want more shows to succeed.

They can promote Heroes all they want, but it won't be enough to keep it afloat. I'm sure there are many viewers like me who are put off by the nonsense the writers keep coming up with and constant PR releases announcing ways they'll do to turn things around like they were in season 1 when the show was watchable. That show is done as far as I'm concerned.

But come 2 Feb you'll be in front of your TV watching and whining. Just like everybody else who says this.
