This story both amuses me and baffles me.A poll of under-10 British children reveals that the kids think that American Idol/X Factor host Simon Cowell is more famous than God, the guy who created the universe. The poll was taken in one town, Luton; Cowell also beat out Queen Elizabeth.
But does this really mean that little British kids think that Cowell is better than God? How exactly did they ask the question? Maybe Cowell is more "famous" than God, because, well, he's on television all the time and these kids probably think they know him better. I think that people are going to be disturbed and shocked by these results when they really don't have to be. I mean, these kids have to know who God and The Queen are to even put them in the top 5, right?
Maybe they showed the kids two pictures, one of God and one of Cowell.

Religion isn't as big here as it is in America, and especially in recent years you're only allowed to teach about different religions in normal schools, rather than teach christianity.
We don't have 'in god we trust' or anything like that on our money, and we very much have complete separation between 'church and state' as you guys would put it.
Unfortunately, the queen isn't as celebrated as she once was with the kids. Even me (at 23) never really was forced to pay attention... Infact, i'm sure anyone my age would tell you Princess Diana was/is 'more famous'.
X Factor (our version of Idol, with Cowell) is in its 5th series now, and Saturdays final broke all the records for any episode ever. 15 million people watched it, which is millions more than go to church or watch the queens speech!

Funnily, the U.S. technically has complete church and state separation while Britain has them legally joined together. The Queen, the head of state, is head of the Anglican church. Of course in practice it is the exact opposite.

well YES. Jesus said that strait and narrow was the way and few there were to find it, also that He was despised and rejected of men.
So any popular figure is more famous than God, because God is in fact depised and dishonoured in this ands every society
