Brett already told you earlier today about the casting of John Glover as Sylar's father on Heroes. But there are many more changes coming to the NBC show.Pushing Daisies creator/producer Bryan Fuller is back at the show. He worked on the show in the first season, and now he's coming back to work on it again starting with episode 19, a few episodes into the "Fugitives" chapter. In this interview over at Entertainment Weekly, Fuller acknowledges that the show has had several problems the past year. He's well aware of them, and he has some ideas on how to fix it.
- He wants to get back into character-driven stories and away from sci-fi elements such as the formula and saving the world.
- The story has been too dense and muddy, so they're going to start focusing on the characters and their everyday lives again. We'll actually see people back at their jobs!
- When characters die, most of them will stay dead.
- Some characters are going to return, such as Matt's wife.
- Fewer stories per episode, so we won't have to deal with 10 different characters and 14 different plots all in one episode.
- Fuller thinks that people aren't sick of the serialization of the show, it's more the way it's handled and how dense (there's that word again) the show has become.
These are all changes that fans upset with the show have been asking for, so maybe people will give the next season a chance and stop drifting away from it.

The return of Matt's wifer means a return to examining how being a Hero can affect NORMAL PEOPLE...which was part of what made season 1 so compelling. So while no one was asking for her specifically, we've ALL been asking for more of the season 1 vibe. Bringing back Parkman's wife says to me that vibe is coming back.

No one wants to see Claire back in high school and the rest back at work.
They need to nail down one central storyline, ala 24, and run with it for that season and let the effects stay permanent, at least for a little while.

I was just about to chime in to tell Fuller to bring in good ol' Ned to the Heroes fold. And of course he has to bring along the Pie Hole gang.
And then eventually Fuller can kill off the Heroes cast and voila PUSHING DAISIES IS BACK ON AIR!

Barry Sonnefield is the reason Pushing Daisies was a success, not Fuller. The direction, imagery, and pacing is all Barry. Taking away his crutch, it seems clear to me how weak Fuller is in his writing. He isn't a savior for the show, he is part of the problem.

DavidM- you don't know what you're talking about. Sonnenfeld moved on before the third episode over a year ago, and he hasn't been back since. He set up the look of the show, yes- but that was many months, a writers strike, and 19 episodes ago.
There have been several fine directors on Daisies since then- including Larry Trilling- none of whom have had any interaction with Sonnenfeld- just Fuller.
Fuller is widely recognized in Hollywood as a strong and clever writer, storyteller, and producer. Whether he can actually make any difference on Heroes is up for debate. Sounds like re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic to me.

Are we to believe that bringing Bryan Fuller back to "Heroes" is going to get people back to watching the show when apparantly the majority of America is too dumb to watch any of the shows he actually creates? The man is 3 for 3. "Dead Like me", dead. "Wonderfalls"-dead, "Pushing Daisies"-dead. If it doesn't have a dancing celebritiy or people doing outrageous things for a million dollars people just aren't going to watch, and that's sad.
