ABC is adding some star power to its new Lost-style drama Flash Forward. Joseph Fiennes and John Cho are in negotiations to join the cast.Fiennes played the title character in Shakespeare in Love and still has a bit of a movie career, so seeing him on television does seem a bit like slumming. On the other hand, while Cho has had memorable movie roles such as Harold in the Harold and Kumar franchise as well as Sulu in the upcoming Star Trek movie, he has had a recurring television role on Ugly Betty. A co-starring television role for him doesn't seem that much a stretch.
Despite this potential good casting, I am ambivalent with regards to Flash Forward. With regards to its creators, David Goyer has had more misses than hits in terms of his movies and Brandon Braga was one of the responsible parties for Star Trek: Enterprise (and co-writer of the utter crap series finale. Something I will never forgive him for). I would give the series a shot when it eventually gets to television but don't have high hopes

I haven't heard much on this series other than on this board. Is this something they have ordered to a pilot and are eyeing a possible winter 2010 premiere if it gets greenlit? I can't see them doing anything with it till fall 09 at the earliest but it's so compatable with Lost they might as well save it for Jan 2010.

I don't understand why you are calling this a lost-style drama. The world stands still....then everyone wakes up in the aftermath, and depending upon where they were what they "saw" was different. They all saw the future. It's how they deal with this knowledge (emotionally, intellectually, etc.) that should be the basis. It was in the book on which it was based, and it was fantastic. Definitely on the high, thinking end of sci-fi.
Please don't pan it before you know about it; at least read the book.

"with regards" used twice on the same line... your english teacher never taught you repetition is bad syntax?
Anyway, that's great casting! And let's stop undermining TV roles. After all, Glen Close is on TV, and her carreer is certainly not over! You should be happy, having a TV Squad gig and all, and such actors come to the small screen!

Ugh. Braga is the bane of every sci-fi nerd. I will give him credit though, "All Good Things..." was an excellent episode, but I'm fairly convinced 90% of that was Ron D. Moore. But regardless, that 10% was pretty darn good so at least there is a small chance that this show might be good.
Also is Joseph Fiennes related to Ralph Fiennes? And if so, do you pronounce his name "James"? :D
