The giant frakkin' Battlestar Galactica Props & Auction catalog is now online. Starting January 17, you can bid on everything from Laura Roslin's eyeglasses to a giant Cylon Raider and, yes, Kara Thrace's gym shorts. Of course, only the most well-off fans will be able to take a piece of the show home with them. They're asking a lot of space bucks for these costumes, props, set designs and Colonial knickknacks. The bidding on Starbuck's shorts, which come with a hoodie, sports bra and a belt, starts at $3,000.
Two live auctions will be held in Pasadena, CA January 17 and 18. Non-cashed-strapped fans -- all two of you -- can also register for live online bidding at BattlestarProps.com.
Battlestar is one of my favorite sci-fi shows of all time. I'd love to buy the beautiful bronze Colonial Raptor that's part of this auction, but I'd probably have to live in it. Besides the Raptor, here's what I would bid on if were an eccentric Howard Hughes-esque bazillionaire:
- The Painting of Baltar from "Collaborators" ($1,000 - $2,000) - He's my favorite character, but I'd still hang it over the toilet just like Roslin did.
- Adama's Photograph of Zak, Lee and Kara ($600-$800) - Just because it would remind me of the amazing first season.
- Adama's Ship Model ($1,500 - $2,500) - It comes broken! Imagine the joy of explaining to people that Edward James Olmos broke your toy boat!
- Baltar's Miniseries Suit ($2,000 -$3,000) - I'd sleep in it every night. Let's move on ...
- Old School Cylon Centurion Costume ($6.000 - $8,000) - I could rent it out to fan filmmakers. It would pay for itself.
- Giant Mark VII Viper ($50,000 - $60,000) - Wouldn't you?
You'll be able to ogle these goodies away from your computer next week. Printed versions of the auction catalog should be out by then, according to our friends at Galactica Sitrep.

Please tell me the Starbuck stuff isn't worn. If it is NBC Universal would be frakkin creepy for letting this stuff be auctioned. While I know it could be framed and kept like game-worn jerseys, I have serious doubt that it would actually be used in that manner. I hope sometime in the future the offer canvas prints of the Baltar painting. That's a classic.

According to the official catalog: "This (Starbuck Gym Wear) costume was worn in the Season 3 episode "Unfinished business" when boxing Lee Adama." So, yeah, they might be stinky.

People are weirdos. I'm sure Starbuck sweat would go for a cool grand at least. Wonder what it's like to have expensive sweat...
