Hey, it's December!
That means that the Christmas specials are about to start, if they haven't started already. Tonight we have How The Grinch Stole Christmas (8:30pm on ABC) and on Wednesday we have Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (8pm on CBS). And still to come, of course, are It's A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and many more. Not to mention all of those Lifetime Christmas movies where someone falls in love around the holidays, plus all of the Christmas episodes of our favorite TV shows. I think Heroes is going to have a special episode where Santa goes up against Sylar.
I would have to say that after all of these years, It's A Wonderful Life is still my favorite. I love The Grinch and Rudolph and A Charlie Brown Christmas as much as the next person (Frosty has never been a favorite, though), but It's A Wonderful Life is the movie I have to stop and watch if I come across it channel surfing.

Any (well, almost) version of A Christmas Carol. I can't believe that's not an option.

Agreed. What on earth is that even doing on this list? There must be dozens of Hallmark Family holiday-themed movies that are better than that turkey.

Chrysee: It is an option, under "other." I couldn't put on the list every single Xmas special/movie that exists or the poll would get ridiculously long. That's why I put "other" and said to name your favorite in the comments.

Besides the usual suspects, I love The Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever (Loretta Switt & Fairuza Balk), It Came Upon the Midnight Clear (Mickey Rooney and Scott Grimes), Mr. Krueger's Christmas (Jimmy Stewart's tv movie that he felt was his best performance) and Family Circle Christmas (PJ is just too cute).

Its a Wonderful Life and A Charlie Brown Christmas are my favorites. Not the added cartoons to Charlie Brown however. Rudolph and Miracle on 34th Street are good runners up. I guess Die Hard would be third if that counts according to a poster above. Im the only person however that seems to not like a Christmas Story. It baffles me that they play that 24 hours straight and not Wonderful Life.

ac: You're not the only person to not like "A Christmas Story". I just could never get into that one for some reason.
As a kid, I liked all the claymation ones - esp. "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" and "Rudolph". I always found "Drummer Boy" disturbing - esp. the young actor repeatedly voicing "Mo-ther, Fa-ther" in a flat monotone.
My all time fave is "It's A Wonderful Life". Second -"Miracle on 34th Street" -- the ORIGINAL, not the pathetic remake (thank goodness no one to my knowledge has ever been stupid enough to remake "It's A Wonderful Life"!). The "34th Street" remake tampers with key elements from the original for no logical purpose. Especially changing the reason for the courtroom outcome - Odd and Bogus! All the actors in the remake were fine, but the little girl in particular could not measure up to Natalie Wood so they had to change the dynamic of her character from sage and distrusting to sweet and naive - all to the detriment of the story.
More current faves are "Home Alone", "The Santa Clause" and "Elf". Oh - and another classic -- "A Charlie Brown Christmas". I think with the economy being what it is this year, my tree may just look like Charlie Brown's pathetic little tree....
