Just in case you weren't sure that this upcoming eighth season of Scrubs was going to be Zach Braff's last -- and, considering both Braff and series creator Bill Lawrence have been alluding to this for months, it's a good bet that you were sure -- an article on Haaretz.com should convince you. Braff spoke to the magazine during his ten-day trip to Israel and confirmed that he has already left the show (which wrapped the eighth, but not necessarily final, season over the summer), mainly because "there's so much I want to do with my life."One of those things, I guess, is getting back in touch with his heritage.
He seems to have really enjoyed his trip to Israel, so much so that he's thinking of writing a movie about an American Jew visiting Israel and how it affects him. He's also taking flying lessons and wants to travel more and learn how to play piano. Heck, if I had made the coin he raked in during those last couple of years of the show, I'd spend a few years to find myself, too. I'd find myself in Israel, China, South Africa, Europe...

I was always pretty sure this was it for Scrubs. Not to cast aspersions on the reporting in Haaretz, but if you read the article, it sounds like it might have been written in Hebrew and then translated, so some words may have been lost in translation. That happens sometimes...
Still, a Scrubs without Braff? How?
But if he does a movie about Israel, I've already offered to lend my expertise: http://tinyurl.com/6ychsr

Esther, Lawrence himself told me that the show may go on after season eight, even if Zach left. They'd continue with some of the old characters and a bunch of new interns who they're introducing in season eight. So, even if there was a kludgy Hebrew-to-English translation in this article, I think they got the facts of the article right.

Yeah like Season 8 of "That 70s show". That was such a hit, wasn't it?

Yea I sort of knew the end was near considering all the changes that have taken place in the past year. It is hear braking to see it go this way bc this is the sort of thing that ruins a show. I will miss it

As awesome as Scrubs is, i feel it should end before it starts going down the crapper.
8 years is a mighty long run, especially these days

The show wouldn't make sense without J.D. It's all in his head (fantasies, narration). When shows try to go on without their main characters, they always suck.

I totally trust you on your sources, Joel. I'm just saying that I can't always rely on the translated versions of Haaretz articles, so I wasn't willing to vouch for the information's accuracy...
New interns, huh? I guess we'll see how that works out...

This is an unusual thing to do, but, Hi Esther! It's Jen (aka J-Lei). I love to read anything about Scrubs and love TV Squad. I'll contact you from now on in the traditional ways but thought I'd acknowledge that I saw you here.
P.S. Thanks readers for your indulgence.

if scrubs continues into a 9th season, I won't watch it.
In my opinion it needs to wrap up the story this upcoming season, and finish with an awesome finale.
I don't want to be left with cliffhangers...i don't want a sopranos style ending...i want all the storylines closed in classic scrubs fashion...and i want closure on relationships, characters and questions posed throughout the show.
If the writers finish scrubs without making it cheesy i'll be happy. It's supposed to be a dramatic comedy(haha comedy) so how about sticking with a dramatic ending, and not go with all the kooky stuff(ala season 7 finale)
Elliot+JD should = Happiness...BUT if they want to do something more dramatic that won't leave me with 10000 quesitons i'll be happy
just my opinion though

Scrubs has been going down the tubes for the last 2 or 3 seasons. I loved that show for years but I barely made it through that last "season." I only watched out of respect for what the show used to be. And, God help me, I'm probably gonna watch the new season as well, and just get angrier and angrier.
I understand if you all don't feel the same way, but I don't like Zach Braff. I love him as JD (or I did 4 seasons ago) but as an actor he kind of sucks. I haven't liked anything he's been in besides scrubs. And he's kind of hard to look at when he tries to be serious and dramatic. Something about his face...
Anyway, I wish him all the luck in the world. And may Scrubs not bury the legacy of the show it once was under so much crap that watching DVD's of the first few seasons becomes unbearable.
