Macy's logoLet's talk turkey. Actually, let's talk Thanksgiving Day commercials, which may or may not involve actual turkeys.

I know, you probably can't remember a Thanksgiving commercial to save your life. There have been a ton of them over the years, but 99.9% of them have to do with department store sales ("Before Thanksgiving Sale!" and "After Thanksgiving Sale!" with a "Thanksgiving Sale!" thrown in for good measure) and they all seem to blend into each other after a while. But there are have been a few over the years that are worth looking at again, and after the jump we'll take a look at them.

No idea when this ad is from, but judging from the look of it I'd say it can't be more than 10 years old. This is just a sales ad, but it sticks out because it features a guest appearance at the end from a animated Christmas icon.

This next ad never made it to television. It's a spec ad that was created for the Xbox a few years ago. It features a family around the Thanksgiving table, acting goofy as a family member videotapes what's going on. Then Uncle Randy starts licking cranberry sauce off of his hook hand and things start to get weird.

This ad is from CBS. Not sure if it's online-only or if it's something that is also running on the network. It features the casts of How I Met Your Mother, Old Christine, Worst Week, Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory, and Gary Unmarried.

Billy Crystal and Robert DeNiro did a Thanksgiving-themed ad for New York.

This next ad is already a classic. I think it originally aired during the Super Bowl, but it's set at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Of course, you can't have a holiday commercial roundup without Snoopy. This one is from Macy's too, Thanksgiving 1987.

And finally, the series of ads in this next video don't really have anything to do with Thanksgiving exactly, but they all aired on Thanksgiving night in 1986, and I just think it's indescribably awesome that someone still has these and took the time to put them online.

Next month: Christmas!
